apparently not only are you supposed to insert the fin into the box, you are also meant to then tighten the screws into the fin! This last stage seemed like it would eat up far to much of my sailing time on Saturday, hence long sideways sail back to Manly.

Good news is that the wind gods were very happy with my offering, and afforded me one of the best sails this year!

Gives a new meaning to not screwing up. Good to hear you can sail without fin.
Also, lucky you didn't have your kids strapped to your back - I hear it's the new rage with some kiters..

Unfortunately this is not the first time i've done it, hence have had some practice in the "no fin" technique! apparently your meant to strap your harness to the back strap. Once you get on the plane its pretty hairy.

Take advantage of the situation and try some of those freestyle moves you've always dreamed about

From breaking fins have tried the harness trick didnt like it much easier just sailing without provided you don't have to go upwind.

Dont worry....until you sail into a channel marker, you are not officially recognised as a klutz. "channel marker,... what channel marker?"

Channel Marker, Channel Marker,

What Channel Marker.

OH that one!

The One you have sailed past over 100 times.

Mikey - If you had no fin we could forgive you!

you should change your nickname to PORT.

If you had too much PORT the night before then.....

- Cheers J

Black,

Having had an unfortunate incident where it was Turtle 1: DrJukka0 out near Green Island I understand your dilemma.

Sink the tail and dredge back in - hard work but possible.

Plenty of opportunity for those freestyle moves.

BTW dugongs also hurt

They also scare the living snot out of you when they surface behind you burp, fart, growl or whatever.

Mikey reminds me of the charterboat add. There i was just sailing along when all of a sudden out of nowhere came this channel marker. I headed up-wind, then down-wind steering left then right, but i just could not avoid the channel marker.

Sorry mikey - hey how did the world selections go?

DAM,

have to agree on the Dugongs sneaking up behind you and doing their 'thing' scared the living daylight out of me in 3 ft of water one day.

As for hitting them - ouch and they are big, 30 knots to 0 hurts (us and probably them as well).

Perhaps we should all chip in a buy Mikey a set of sailing specs for XMAS- might be to our benefit.

I mean, if he can't see a stationary, bright red thing that sticks out of the water 4m - what hope does he have of seeing another sailor.!

Anyway - having taken more than enough piss out of Mikey's poor unfortunate vision incident that has given rise to ample advertising oppotunites (RACQ) -

Best of the season to all.

- Dr J

I knew the channel marker was there somewhere...... Board repaired now.
Yea DAM, danced well but the judges saw it as 5th. No trip to Europe for me this year, unless I give Pierre a visit. Did an interview for Today Tonight which they may put to air before Chrissy....or may not. NOW FOR SOME SERIOUS SAIL TIME!

That's got to hurt Mike, were you doing your speed thing or just B&J. Either way it can't have been good.

Sorry to hear about the 5th, perhaps the judges are as blind as, I don't know, say - someone who runs into stationary channel markers...
