(Sorry if this has been discussed before, I missed it)

What do you make of this?:
www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/error-404.html

It is the masterplan for the Southport Broadwater Parklands.
"The Train" is #21 on page 1, now marked as a Water Garden. There is a semblance of a carpark at #20 and at least a nice looking rigging area at #43.

Ohh, they've thought of us: "18. Launching Beach: Open area for launching non-motorised water-craft (wave skis, kayaks, etc)."

It will certainly make our sport more visible. Actually the plan looks OK to me, except for the perhaps lack of parking/replacement with boat trailer parking and that swimming area and small pier, right where I get blown downwind in a S/SE. Looks like will still be good in a NE.

17. Clubhouse: The re-located fishing club will be housed in a new clubhouse with improved facilities,
including an area for small events and meeting spaces available for use by other community
groups.

lets form a club dudes before it's too late.

the current shack is two stories and has a bar!

remember it is about to be built our rigging lawn!!!!!!!!!!!!

the train.........beautiful one day, demolished the next.

don't forget when this stuff starts you won't be able to sail there for a year!

Saw people windsurfing up paradise point for the first time ever, and recently in other spots i've never seen winsurfed before - maybe in readyness for the year off from the choochoo?

i can see KFC becoming the new surrogate for the interim

i guess only time will tell but i reckon the train is dead.

i've sailed a few times at paradise point. launched from james cook esplanade. it's a good spot. i've only sailed in SE's there.

it seems like it would be an excellent venue in a NE. there is minimal boating traffic. i haven't found any real flat water there. although lots of banks so maybe there is?

There's quite a few potential or old spots in the Broadwater, some just need the right tide, usually very high.

Burrows St - funnels a Southerly very niceley, but needs 1m+ tide to get all the way across.
Lands End - What is that like on a NE?
Hollywell - picks up a NE brilliantly, but needs a high tide, those banks are shallow.

Where'd you see people sailing at Paradise Point? Ah, I call it Hollywell.

Anyone ever sailed Hinze Dam? Gusty? Would be rather picturesque. Theres a lot of terrain around it though.

Clubhouse - could watch movies while we wait : )

You could always skip across the channel to the train from Sea World during construction.

i feel very sad now.

i just realised the chair police are dead...... where will they go? what will they do?

we could be talking extinction here.

something needs to be done.

should we take their chairs to another venue and encourage them through positive reinforcement to try something new

My guess is that after all the hype, it will be just like rigging up near across the road from Australia Fair. There will be metered parking and assortments of people enjoying the FREE outdoor activities (with their beers and 7 kids).

my guess is that with the boatramp and other planned ammenity that we will see a lot more boats mooring in the area.

What, that's all? Just a train moving along? Damn, why'd you have to go and spoil the ending for us? I was just about to watch it...
