i am starting to look at the forecast for Saturday and where to go. There would appear much more green arrows up the Sunshine Coast than the Gold Coast. Is this common for a ESE forecast (don't know how to copy the images) or is this just reflecting the different locations.
I don't sail up the coast much but given the stronger winds it might be worth the drive. Looking at the WW site Golden Beach looks the best bet in an ESE if I am looking for flat water?
Anything with East in it and Toowoomba is the go!
Wind picks up speed as it comes over the mountain (the something effect).
Has been 20-30kt all week! I don't care what BOM says.
Toowoomba is the capital of the world. It's the best city, in the best state, in the best country in the world ...at least according to some guy in the local paper.
If you like chips & gravy this is the place to be, because no matter what you order you get chips & gravy!
... I'd like to thank my double-shot flat white.
Daneli - a good place to go in Sunny Coast is Lake Cootharabra, just north of Tewantin. Especially if you like flat water. Can just about touch over the whole lake and good in any wind except with any west in it.
Although a bit further to drive. Makes a good camping spot for a weekend sail. Leave the board rigged beside the tent plus due to the lake's size doesn't get as crowded.
Thanks Gregwed I have been wanting to try Lake Cootharabah for a while. However, if the wind is marginal will it still get as much breeze as the coast?
Having now seen the Bayside Club day planned for this Sunday I might head out there for a look instead.
Cheers
