...of that little Southerly spike on Sunday's chart turning into something usable? And, if so, where would be best to catch it?

I'm desperate for a sail as it's been, oh, six days since my last one.

I wish !!
MAybe Shearwater will funnel enough to make it worth the drive.

Where is shearwater, exactly? Is it not an "actual" place? Google is flummoxed, saying tasmania has one, the sunshine coast has one, and it's an esplanade in runaway bay. :p

I'm banking on wello for some magic on sunday. It's close to my place, and for once i actually have the afternoon off to enjoy it.

If you want somwhere flat, Bongaree is pretty good in a Southerly, me and Fitz sailed it a few weeks ago, you can sail over towards Pebble beach for several K's, just avoid dead low tide.

Hmm, I was vaguely thinking of Bribie. Skirmish point went off last week. I wonder if it would get better strength in a Southerly compared with Queen's?

I find Queens a bit sheltered when the wind is really south, better at Suttons, in a strong southerly it really goes off, not it in a ESE though

Yep, it's the esplanade at runaway bay. Some like it but not so much me. So many power boats, so much chop, but probably ok during the week.

Yeah, Shearwater Esplanade. I don't really love it either, but, it does get wind, it's got good parking and rigging and a nice beach to launch from. The chop is a plus for me. It's just got a fierce tidal run and needs the right tide, which I was just reminded of a few days ago, but I've forgotten already.

Shearwater Esplanade at Runaway Bay works best in a SW, S or SE. The tide comes in/out from the seaway, which is to the south. You can see on a map.

Tide against wind means you are sailing downwind all the time, and you get bigger chop/ramps.

So...

You want an outgoing tide, which can add four knots by itself, like Sunday morning. Fingers crossed.

I did a drive around one day and compared Currumbin, 15-20, The Train, 15-20 and Shearwater, 20++ all within an hour. It really is windier there when coming from the south.
If anywhere Sunday morning it will be Shearwater esp. at Runaway Bay, Qld. 4216.

(or oatland esplanade or james cook)

(damn it hc i know that domino song. i remember it was an odd chorus for the time)

It's a shame 'cause there's plenty of wind out at sea.

I think I will be working on my deck-grip project tomorrow. Got some nice non-yellowing epoxy today.
