Worked down that way today and went passed WP on the way home to see if anyone was still on the water and collect some sand/shell grit for my chooks. Shoveled the sand into a plastic bag with my hands....and now they stink! It's a really gross petrol-type/ocean/sh#t smell. Washed my hands several times and can't get rid of it.
And we sail in that crappy water!
Anyone noticed a change in water quality in the bay lately?

best not feed it to the chooks then.

i've noticed at wello when there is no wind that the petrol heads go boating right where the kids like to swim.

maybe a boat lost some fuel.

VP is a no stink zone......

Actually I'd say that the water quality in the bay is getting slightly better, however this is only clarity wise- as far as chemicals no idea. Where did you collect the sand from, if it was the beach then that isn't wello sand it is shipped in every 6 months or so.

Gestie whilst the sand at VP might not smell, the mud most certainly does and the one thing wello does not have is waist deep mud.

As far as boats, i've been waiting for the powers that be to make a no boating exclusion zone around wello western side and reef on eastern due to the numbers of dugong and turtles there now.

Now VAMBO, you know that I can't do that without making DUGONG (Pierre) and WALRUS (Glynn) jealous. [}:)]

Fear not, the week ahead looks like more than enough wind.

It was from the beach, as it was grittier than further out - so the bay's natural sand (at WP) doesn't have the shell bits in it that's good for the chookies.
It was getting dark then as well - too much chatting - so I couldn't really see what I was shovelling into the bag!

Good wind coming up...I'll drink to that!
Cheers guys.
