Just got an unexpected pass-out. Going to check it out.
(If I can get my super phone to work I'll even post a yay/nay on here)
Wikid session, 30-35knots! Couldnt keep the board on the water haha
I'm off tomorrow morning, cya all in a couple years.
Your a hoon stephan haha, overtook me and ben when we had like a 5min head start
dafunk - we sailed at the spit. was excellent wind between 12 and 3, particularly for a westerly on the goldcoast, but it turned to crap very rapidly after that
@Scully: I had to drive fast, police was hunting me ;) All the best and hope to read your name in the PWA overall ranking Freestyle Men!!
where do you sail at haircut?
i was thinking about driving down cause it looked heaps windier there, but had no idea where you would be sailing? ocean side?
thanks haircut , was so hard to get back at shearwater [had to walk 200m upwind]. 1 kiter got rescued . and a sailor only just made it back.
I took the 7.2. Was 15 knots all the way to the Spit. Was juuuust about to rig it, mast out and all when it picked up. a 4.7 would have been nice (da vecta*). Lucky I packed a 5.9 just in case.
Got literally blown off the water with a 5.9 and 65cm/110l board during some of the gusts.
Great for confidence when haircut turns up and throws forwards.
Hey, were the police telling us to stop sailing today? Seemed to be indicating that we were in the channel, but so what? It was empty.
* Da Vecta: prob pick it up tomorrow.
Not sure if I get this right, but were the Police trying to stop people from using a public waterway ??
Kirra was great, had it for a couple of hrs from 1 to 3:30, small waves side shore, powered up perfect on my 5m sail, the only thing that would of made the day better is more time on the water. The wind came in a blast and at 3:30 like clockwork it stopped.
It was just nice to get out on the water and get airborn agian, it would have been good to see you guys had some fun at the spit.
Yer cops boat(the big one) slowed and shouted to stay out of the channel, i am guessing there would be some rules about crossing the channel but dont know what they are, to be honest i was well on my way across and got caught in a lull which caused them to slow and alter course, you know what its like in a westerly all or nothing. If i had kept going they may not of bothered i dont know.
Actually it a good spot anything West and you can launch anywere along that sticky out peninsula or if its a good strong westerly seaworld carpark, just watch out for oysters
^^
I had a pretty good sail on a big NW a couple of years ago form the Spit side of the Broadwater.
The wind was very strong, but there was a lot of moored boats to dodge and it was gusty as crap, as well as very choppy.
Still, not a bad sail and the rigging area and launch was pretty easy.
