Thumbs Up

I was thinking back the other day,(you can see how much i love winter) to summer of 06/07. There must have been northerly seabreezes along wello point sandbar to at least 12+ everday for the entire summer. But since then we have gotten nothing. Maybe 4-5 decent days at the very most and very very patchy with wind lines all over the place.

Does anyone know why this is or how to predict a good year. btw i have noticed the years there are good northerlys the sandbar is straighter and also very very steep on the southern side, but the number of strong westerlys does not automattically mean a straight sandbar.

I have noticed these as we live at wello and i see the sandbar everday, its very unpredictable atm

Thumbs Up

Just checked a few sessions from the 06/07 summer.

6/1/07 - SE
3/2/07 - SE
17/12/06 - SE

27/1/07 - NE

Tend to find NE Sebreezes run fairly consistently from Mid/Late August through to the end of November - Mid Dec. Then we tend to move into a frontal SE seabreaze scenario with more Easterly and usually weaker seabreezes until end of March. (Some NE still possible)

April - Only really frontal S/SE winds.
May - mostly light winds - Start to see some SW.
June - Frontal southerlies, Start of of SW wind.
July-MidAugust - big strong SW-W-NW frontally associated.

As for the Bank - some of the older locals will tell you it has changed. My recollection now is that there is lot more sand/silt build up on the E side of the bar - it is not as dep as it used to be >10 years ago.
