Hey All,
Sat is looking good. Where we all going? I feel like waves!!! Unless we all keen for a bit of flat water? kekekeke
Whats your take?
Rats, I dont know where most of these places are. lol, for me it will be either Wello or Manly or a day up at Noosa? Which is better?
Yeah! graphs look promising for the whole weekend really. I'll be at Wello both days, wish i had the skills to wave surf though
Is there a Kirra meet???? No the surf at kirra seems to be okay for those who wanna learn waves. So come on man, go for it. I just read up a review. Looks awesome.
Kirra is easy-peasy and I can't wave surf, honest. My sum windsurf experience is only 3 years of weekends with some breaks. Big, nasty chop is harder than small Kirra, and you get chop that big at Wello.
There was a guy on a beginner board there last time, possibly his first ever time. You either go out through the breaks or stay in the gutters, and at low tide the first gutter is pool-table flat.
I'm planning to make an entire day out of it. 9am start. ![]()

"Gold Coast QLD 11:26am 24/09/2009
Swell size: 0-1ft E
Late Morning Update....There is no sign of the promised S swell as yet and it still looks like a lake with only 0-1ft of swell. The winds are light from the NNE now and will stay that way for the resty of the day."
I think Kirra sounds inviting! I've never been there but sounds good. Are the beaches packed or empty? Plenty of swimmers?
That's got me thinking now.. I own a 130L board and one of those small hybrid boards i've only used a few times... I have no idea what wave surfing is about or what i'll be getting myself into, i've always wanted to do it tho.. Is it worth trying kirra on saturday or with my gear should i just hit up wello ? i don't wanna ruin a good days of wind....
the windwanderers meet is at north kirra beside the surf life saving club. the club is very laid back. just a social outing with windsurfing, bbq and fun being the ambition. it's really just a vehicle to get everyone together and try out some new spots and have some fun.
the beach is very quiet. it is a great spot. the waves are normally small around this time of year and this weekend looks like that will be the case. for heading into the surf for the first time north Kirra is a very good spot.
depending on wind direction you either sail straight out and back in (NW) or almost parralel to the shore (NE) the conditions go from bump and jump to bigger waves out the back.
there is going to be lots of people there that aren't wave sailors, me included. i probpably go into the surf about 3 times a year. there will also be some people there trhat are regular wave sailors. it's a great mix.
i always take the camera as well. ![]()
i'd say come and check it out. the conditions are looking very very good for us occasional surf sailors.
for gear your 130 lt board should let you play around. i wouldn't take an old monofilm race sail into the surf though. if you come along and decide it doesn't feel right you can hang around for the bbq and see what the club is about or head to the train for some flat water fun.
Sunshine and a northerly on a Saturday.
,
I'm in a crisis! Kirra or Noosa? Kirra noosa kirra noosa which one???
Which one has warmer water and less people? I'll take that one!! Help!!!!!! lol

..... and its red, not like Ians new board ![]()
it was a difficult day mate from what i am told. dead onshore makes it tough.
i think everyone struggled with the current so mosted stayed up towards the gutter. swell was certainly a lot bigger than forecast too.
stayed dry myself and played event photographer. ![]()
the guy that helped you out is kirk.
