Hello all, Im new to windsurfing and took it up to get out in the water after work ,as sandgates only 10 mins away. Im often out there going through moments of grace followed by moments of total gumbiness
but only on a high tide as my 43cm fin likes to carve gutters thru the sea bottom . I was wondering how much i could cut from the bottom of the fin and the consequences of this. As the walk back in is a pain in the butt and wastes valuable daylight. My boards a 136l f2 with a 6m sail Is this a bad idea? your views would be much appreciated....cheers..mark
If you cut it down to around 32cm it would be fine.
I'd be inclined to get another fin though, you might want that big one later on if you get a bigger sail.
I agree - 43 cm fin is useful as is - get another one, 32cm is a good size for 6m - you can get quite fat fins even shorter - the kids have a funster - it has a 28cm fin with a very wide area - so it is a big fin even though it is quite short - this is very useful for shallow places like cootharaba
