The VP curse got me today, I have a large hole in my sail.
Does anyone know of a good sail repairer near Brisbane and do you know the approximate cost of replacing one panel ?
HI EvilC
I have used Andrew at Ultimate Sails a few (to many) times.
Always found his work good and reasonable price.

PS what sail was yours today
Thanks Graeme, I will give him a call tomorrow.
I was on the blue Naish 5.5. It is only a second hand sail but the missus is still reminding me of the 7.4 and 460 mast I got for Christmas....
I found today a bit on and off, sometimes the 5.5 was great and then I would hit a hole and stop dead in the water....
Hi Clive
Sorry to hear you punched a hole in sail.
Still think it was a good place to be to day.
Had a good session with 6.2 expression and mistral synchro 94 litre.

The funny thing was the hole was quite high up in the sail. Was either a great catapault or maybe the sail caught a rock or something while I was in the water ????
I will get a panel put in with a picture of my mother-in-law on it, or maybe just learn how to land the double forward loop ![]()
Mander sails.
A lot of guys use greg's services - very reasonable, exceptional work. Probably about $100 for a panel - but don't quote me.
Just drop it to board crazy at woolloongabba or call simon on 38916470, i'm sure he can sort it out for you.
Went out with my fixed sail (2 new panels) at VP yesterday. When I rigged the sail I noticed the battens hadn't been put back correctly. An hour later after fixing the battens I went for a sail. Got about 500 metres off shore when the mast went through the top of the sail. Tried to de-rig and fix the sail and noticed my board floating away. I swam for about 200 metres by which time my board was getting futher and further away. I left my board to get blown to shore and went back to get my rig. After swimming my rig back to shore next to my board I noticed another torn panel. Lucky a guy called Steve gave me a lift with my gear back to VP (thanks Steve). Anyway, I want to know when a sail is worth repairing and when you should buy a new one?
Hi Clive
Sorry to hear your sail hasn't come up to scratch.
I just read your plight out to my wife and she said ,tell him to buy a new sail.
Hope she is as encouraging when I want a new sail.

I bought a big $8 roll of bear fibre tape - old sails become brittle - the monofilm has a high pitch rattle - I just tape up the splits & keep taping - i am only counting on one more session - amzed at how far and long they go - I trashed a 6.5 V6 punching though a shore break one day - taped it up cos I was on holiday in Emu park (looked like crap) but the sail not only lasted the holiday sailing every day for 5 days - it went for rest of season!
