Hi guys, I've got a Neil Pryde Expression 6.5, it's getting a bit old now I think it's 2006 and after some heavy use, then heavy disuse due to overseas trips then heavy use again it's starting to have some structural and behavioral issues. It's starting to become very difficult to insert the mast up the luff tube to the tip and as a result it has developed a bit of a tear up there. I was wondering if you had any sail maintenance tips, I tend to rinse the sail down and rinse out the luff tube if I won't be sailing for more than a week or so or if it has gotten noticeably sandy. I checked through the battens, but they seem to be set okay from the sail shape. It's just I'm about to get back to Aus in a couple of weeks itching to get back out, but I had a bit of an argument with the said sail before I left, with it behaving rather erratically. Any noobschool advice would be gladly accepted and tried out when I get back. :D
i had a tip once that worked for me always make sure they are dry and it isnt necessary to wash them. The real problem is they are making sails light so the materials are often not super strong, if you get 2 or 3 seasons out of one its probably time to upgrade
