Here comes summer!!!
As the new season nears I thought it an opportune time to drop everyone a note to let you know what we are up to.
Some of you may have seen the placeholder for the website www.seqwavesailing.com.au/ We aim to have this up and running in the coming months and it should have info about future events, articles and photos from previous events, membership information and more.
We are also currently looking into a video night, most likely on the Gold Coast, sometime during the month of September. On top of this we will host our first social wavesail day of the season on Saturday the 5th of September, while it's still early days the most likely venue with be south Gold Coast (Kirra for NW, Currumbin for S). From there on we will aim to run an event each month through until April next year, we will use the first event to talk about locations and dates, but rest assured this year we want to actually get an event to have wind on the Sunshine Coast and also attempt to venture to the northern beaches of the Gold Coast.
For the rest of the season we have made a move to put more emphasis on our monthly events being social wavesailing days, with the hope to get more guys off the flat water and out to enjoy the surf with us. Of course these days will still include a BBQ and the odd prize here and there. We will also continue to run the Currumbin Classic event in March, and we have already started praying for conditions to equal last year. More news on this will come in the future. Also don't forget the NSW crew are holding their flat top event on the 3rd through to 5th of October at Woolgoolga. This is a great location and a great event and it would be good to see some of the QLD crew head down for a a bit of the action (not for me though as I will be heading off to 3 weeks in the US on that weekend).
And finally it's time to renew your membership. Membership prices are the same as last year, which includes insurance as provided by the Australian Windsurfing Association www.windsurfing.org.au/ This year we will again provide some merchandise with the club logo (I still have T-shirts from last year for sale), if you have any ideas of what you would like or would like the details on how to join SEQ Wavesailing feel free to reply to me. We are also doing some membership deals that include advertising on the site as well as a standard membership for those of you that own a business, so if you would like to further support the club and have your business logo on the website and naming rights to a social event please let me know and I will forward you the details.
That's all for now.
Thanks
Jamie
I should add that if you need a membership form, shoot an email through to that address and I will get one back to you.
Looks like it is shaping up to be a great season, so hope to see a few guys at the event in September.
Don't forget this event is on this coming weekend, Saturday the 5th.
Early indications are showing a marginal chance of a sail at Currumbin, with fingers crossed for a bit of swell.
As we need to run an AGM/sign on day, and at the very least find a new treasurer, this event will go ahead regardless of the conditions. And if the wind doesn't play nice we have an invite to demo some of the latest stand-up paddle boards in the estuary. So if you have been hanging out to have a go on a paddle board this could be your chance.
Look forward to seeing everyon on Saturday. Meeting time 10am at the Alley.
Where is it exactely,please?
I wish to get there but don't want to be late so if someone could show a map, that would be fantastic. ![]()
Here you go...
heading south on the Gold Coast H'wy just take the left on the other side of the Currumbin Estuary bridge, turn right at the bottom of the hill and follow the road to the beach, then you are there.

Well tomorrow can't come soon enough.
Sitting here at my desk in my windowless office I have to say I can't wait to get down there tomorrow. Coatsalwatch is forecasting 3ft swell, however being that it's a wind swell I am not banking on it being very clean. So bring your surfboards, bring your SUP's for the morning and bring your floaty wave boards, cause the afternoon forecast is looking like we may get our for a grovel.
Don't forget, we are going to be looking for committee members, so if your are keen to put in a little time to keep the club running make sure you let someone know. And for those of you that own a business and would like a corporate membership which includes site membership and event naming rights please talk to me tomorrow for all the details.
Also don't forget, if you haven't had a go on a SUP, but have wanted to, here is your big chance.
See you all at 10am.
