Well it's off to the sunny coast we go, thanks to Al Green and Caloundra City Sailboards we are heading north to hit the surf and have some fun. We will make the call on the exact day and event location closer to the day, if the wind is from the south we will be around Ann Street, from the north we may venture as far north as Castaways Beach.

The format for the day will be, turn up, sail lots, eat some BBQ and maybe sail some more. If we get into it we will run the day as an expression session and crown a winner...or just keep sailing.

As this is an official event, you will need to be a member of an AWA affiliated club to take part. SEQ Wavesailing membership details can be found here...www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=43412

i'm keen (if the wind blows!)

Any chance of demo-ing a twinny - i might be persuaded to part company with some cash but i'd like to give it a go first and see what the hype is all about.

Looking forward to it.

This weekend is also the Lake Cootharaba Sailing club Monomasters Regata. This is open to longboard and formula competitors and will next year be the state championship event for Raceboard and perhaps also formula.

Since you will already be at the Sunshine coast, Why not bring your old raceboard or formula and have one day on the waves and the other at the lake?

There will be three races on Saturday and two on Sunday. It is a two day event but all are welcome to join in one day only just for the competition practice and/or fun.

Martin,

If you ask real nice you never know but Jesse might give you a run on his new Twiny, early reports say it's a very sweet board.

Otherwise we will have to see if we can get something sorted with some demo boards for an event in the future.

So early indications are that we will head to Currimundi Lake or Wurtulla on Saturday. Conditions are shaping up well and the word from those in the know is that we should be blessed with a good afternoon of wind. I have even put in an order with huey.

So aim to be there around 10am, full meet point details will be up on Friday.

Hi Guys, Depending on the wind direction but I think you may be sailing around,Neil St. Dicky beach, or what the locals call Ann St but is actually Buderim St. Currimundi, or Currimundi lake entrance at Westaway Pde. Currimundi.
is anyone getting confused yet..

The local wave sailors on Sunshine Coast usually sail at Neil Street Dicky Beach in Southeasters and The Spit Mooloolaba in Noreasters. Saturday is looking good for a NE. Hope that helps

yeah - spit is ok - but not really what i would class as a wave spot.

Have had many sessions at Niel St on SE, but never on NE so not sure how it would go.

I think Wurtulla/currimundi lake entrance would be best or castaways near Perigian.

Hope to see everyone there - its looking good forcast wise.

We have a few spots for the N/NE on the cards, some local knowledge has also pointed out a good spot at Coolum as well. So stay tuned we will have a meet point sorted for Saturday morning by later tomorrow, and if the conditions are not working at the meet point we will discuss moving.

At this stage it looks like it will be a good weekend.

Ok, so the call is Currimundi Lake Entrance.

Sign on will be from 10:00, if we do move we wont go anywhere till 11.

It looks like there is parking at the end of Westaway pde and Watson street.

So, no wind, no waves, what did you get up to?

That's right, no wind, no waves, but still had a good day catching up with all the crew.

Many of the guys spent some time on a couple of SUP boards borrowed from John and Rob (thanks guys), for a few it was their first crack at this.

And apart from cooking up a storm on the BBQ Al Green brought down a couple of Kona big boards and an Amundsen SUP which a few of us managed to sail out and catch a few small waves on.

So all in all not a bad day. Not exactly what we were hoping for, but hey a day on the beach has got to be better than a day at home mowing lawns etc. Huge thanks has to go out to Al for putting the BBQ on, and to Tony from AskHuey for the loan of the tent...I would hate to think how much more burnt I would be now without it. And to all those that came along for the day, hopefully those that stayed up there tonight will get some wind tomorrow.
