There was more than a bit of debris out there yesterday, some poor guy on a big board broke his fin at green island (manly) and had managed to de-rig and swim it to about 3k off shore but needed some help back. I have a rope in the car for that very purpose and went out to give a tow. I didn't get him too far back when the coast guard came and took over - lucky really, I was on small gear and it was quite tough going.
Anyway I asked if he could leave the tow rope by the car and when I got back in there was a six pack there as well. A very generous thank you and the beer tasted great after a great day on the 5.4. Just proves it pays to help out, even if it is just to provide some company in a crappy situation.
