Hey guys and girls!
The forecast is looking promising for Sunday with a decent 20-25knt SSE forecast and some swell, so it looks perfect to hold the first unofficial expression session this season. The plan is meet up at the park at lower Neil St Caloundra around 10am, get out there and enjoy ourselves. The format will be a 1hr expression session and 3 standout sailors will walk away with a sweet prize.
Bowsa and myself will be giving some tips to those who are looking to take the plunge into doing forward loops, and will be providing plenty of moral support on the water to get you around this key wave manoeuvre! You know you have been dreaming about it - nows the time!!!
Neil st is a pretty friendly place to get out in the waves, so if you can waterstart and are looking to venture out - be sure to get along and join us on Sunday.
All updates will be via www.facebook.com/QldFreewaveAssocation , so jump on an like the page to stay up to date.
Hope to see you all there!
Would love to come up, but only a few days bore the southern road trip I'm not sure I will be able to.
Next time Gadget.
is the Airsickness Crew going to be there this weekend i just watched the Australian tittles vid and that looks sick
Absolutely epic session at neill st today. Mast high, 4.7 full power down the line!
Was best just after low tide from about 1-3
Awesome to see so many people sailing neill st!
good to hear you guys scored.
The alley was a bit too south and pretty gusty. Way over cooked on a 5.3, and too much wind blowing up the face of the wave to really get into it. Lots of very long swims were had by all.
Awesome fun.
Bit of a baptism of fire for the queensland freewave association! Mast high sets and 30knots +
Here's hoping for lots more.
What an insanely good day of wavesailing. Crazy big sets and a lot of swimming :)
Congratulations to our expression session winners who sailed really well on the day. A special mention to Kate Barker who went out on a day that many sailors decided to stay inshore and watch the action. Unfortunately for Kate a set on the head in the afternoon meant she was left with a broken mast, a torn sail and a long swim! Well done Kate.
Expression Session winners:
Martin Batstone
Luke Bailey
Kate Barker
The level was pretty high with some massive loops, big waverides and gurscrew attempts, goiter attempts being pulled off. A special mention should go to Chris powell and Shane finnagan who also stood out with some great riding and jumping.
We got some good footage so I am going to try and cut something together asap and get it up for us to see just how big it was.
Congrats to all of the sailors who made it out - it was one massive day!
This is going to be epic sooooooo looking forward to watching it after the video from australian wave titles
Haha just be forewarned that the editing will not be of the quality of the Nats video because I'm doing the editing :)
