With the festive season upon us it's time to celebrate what's been a
sensational Spring and to ring in Summer in style. Christmas is
coming early to the Gold Coast with the second QFWA "Expression Session"
next weekend.
The plan at this stage is to get together somewhere on the GC (either Main
Beach, Narrowneck, Nobby's, or Currumbin) from 11 on Saturday 1st December for the second of our QFWA "Expression Sessions", with a swag of prizes up
for grabs.
Then it's off to Surf FX for their infamous Xmas Xtravaganza (from 6pm)
and a chance to check out the latest kit from JP, Neil Pryde, Starboard,
Severne, Fanatic, and Naish.
For those who want to make the most of the weekend - Sunday could include a trip over the border to either Cudgen or Hastings Point if conditions are right.
So whether you're keen to make a weekend of it, or can only squeeze in a
day-trip, we look forward to seeing you on the Goldy next Saturday and
Sunday as we celebrate the season QFWA-style!
As always, we are always looking for new members - so please email will@josephmark.com.au for an membership form to get involved and you can pay membership $ on the day.
All the latest updates will be via the Facebook page here:

Just a quick heads up to all that given the forecast (promising N'E'er), and the potential traffic/parking nightmare at the northern end of the GC this time of year, we will probably run this saturday's "Expression Session" at Cudgen. See ya there!
Yes, everyone is welcome to our famous Xmas party this saturday night at Surf Fx:
"To thank our customers for supporting us we are having a Christmas party! If you Kite, Windsurf, SUP, Boog or Surf then your invited. And bring pants because we are going out afterward."

Everybody welcome. ![]()
sunday looking good too.
cudgen mission then aswell!
might not be able to make it saturday, but sunday looks on!
Just a quick update regarding tomorrow's "Expression Session" at Cudgen.
We'll officially be getting underway from 1100 and thanks to the guys from Surf FX we've got a fistful of gift vouchers up for grabs!
There'll be prizes for the Hardest Charger, Heaviest Wipeout, and an Encouragment Award for the first-timer/novice who pushes their boundaries.
So if you haven't signed up as yet, drop Will Johnston an e-mail care of: will@josephmark.com.au and we'll see you at Cudgen tomorrow for some down-the-line fun in the sun!
Also don't forget the "FX X'mas Xtravaganza" is on from 6pm and promises to be a night to remember (don't forget your dancing shoes!).
And with sunday's forecast also looking the goods those of you from out of town might want to book a bunk and make a weekend of it..
Ah cool.
Anyone know what the water visibility is like down there? I'm thinking of packing the snorkel and going for a poke around the reef before the wind picks up if anyway is keen.
Looks like being a fun day for our little cross-border excursion. The breeze is building, the swell is only small, but lining up sweetly (surfed it yesterday). So there should be some fun waves to be had over the course of the day and no doubt some freestyle action too. A reminder that we're "officially" getting underway from 1100 (Qld Time), however, that shouldn't stop you getting out there as soon as you're rigged and ready. As an "Expression Session" there are no dedicated heats, no coloured singlets, just a focus on having fun! Indeed, the only rules that apply are those which we all adhere to when wavesailing (i.e. sailor on the way out has right of way, no dropping in unless invited too
). See you there!
Well the waves could have been a little bigger and the wind a few knots stronger, but nonetheless a great day was had by the 20 or so of us who headed out at Cudgen for the second of our QFWA "Expression Sessions".
With the local boardriders holding their monthly club contest on the main peak we were forced to move a little further south than usual to make the most of what was on offer on the main carpark bank.
Even in the fairly marginal conditions it was impressive to everyone having a red-hot go with the usual suspects leading the way!
While it was pretty tough to separate the pack, Shane Finnigan was clearly loving his recently customised old Kombat and got the gong for "Hardest Charger".
Fortunately all came through day unscathed, however, Ben Lii had the great misfortune of "crashing" pretty unexpectedly/spectacularly right in front of the camera, so that one was a no-brainer (sorry mate
).
And Lucy Ruthren showed she's no slouch in the surf snaring a few sweet little set waves to claim the "Encouragement Award".
So after a good five or so hours of fun in the sun it was off to Surf FX for their annual "Xmas Xtravaganza" and the chance to enjoy a few drinks with the crew.
All in all, a fun way to start the festive season and a big thanks to all involved in making the day such an enjoyable one.
Our next "Expression Session" is planned for mid-January on the Sunshine Coast, so until then, here's wishing one and all a very Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New Year.
See you all in 2013!

Looks fun! I'm heading down today... Anyone who wants to join ill be there from a,bout 10. Wind looks like its going to be stronger than yesterday! Can't wait... I've got some new sails to try out!
ahhh, i remember that moment, dropping in on a wave a bit late, and nosediving the freestyle board straight to the bottom derp. Also managed to flog myself in the back of the skull with the mast trying to do a spock, almost knocked myself out
I must be pretty special haha
great to see so many peopleout. for all the people wanting to have their first baby step in waves, head over to cudgen today, should be awesome fun with a bit more wind.
Yep what an awesome day and great expression session! Congrats to the winners and it was perfect for those venturing out into the waves for the first time. Today looks good so hope you all are having a ball!!!
Thanks for a great day yesterday! Fully powered most of the time on new 5.3 hero and 87 quad - was good to see so many faces on the water.
There were a few holes in the wind and it seemed to drop off for an hour or so around 1pm but then it kicked back in again.
Sailors of the day go to Matt Ruthren who was showing his local knowledge with wave selection on the changing tide... and as usual Martin B with some big backies and about a billion spin loops!
A great way to spend a Sunday - thanks everyone!
Chris
Great to see so many sails on the water at the events, the support for the clubs this year is awesome and very satisfying to see.
Will try and get to the next session if possible
yep, both days were a lot of fun. Feel like i've been hit by a bus today so maybe a few less spin loops next time!
