Bit too east for Shearwater. I find Shearwater a bit crappy when i goes directly SE or more easterly. I'm going to KFC middle of the day high so long fast runs right across the sand bank once the tide gets high enough which should be from about 11 on and there will be a bit of chop around to play on i would say. The wind is usually more consistent and sometimes stronger at KFC than Shearwater in the SE winds.
Hi Guys,
I'm holidaying at Coolangatta at the moment and was hoping to have a sail today. Where is the Alley and Shearwater? Is the Alley Currumbin and Shearwater up on the Broadwater at Southport?
ALLEY IS THE OCEAN AT CURUMBIN, TAKE THE GOLD COAST HWY NORTH AND KEEP THE BROADWATER ON YOUR RIGHT, FROM SMITH STREET YOU CAN SAIL ANWERE ALONG THERE BY JUST KEEPING THE WATER ON YOUR RIGHT, AT KFC VERE RIGHT AND YOU CAN SEE SAILORS ANONG THERE KEEP GOING TO GRAND HOTEL, AT LIGHTS TURN RIGHT AGAIN KEEP GOING ALL THE WAY UP TO THE ROUNDABOUT AT LEA AVE(THINK ITS AVE) AND TURN RIGHT SHEARWATER IS FIRST LEFT AND RIGHT AGAIN, SHOULD BE GOOD ALL OVER IF THE RAIN KEEPS AWAY.
PAUL
Gusty as hell at KFC. At a guess i would say that it was gusty pretty much everywhere. Still stayed out 5 hours but it was hard work at times.
Shearwater was ok gusty as but powered up full-time, the 6.2 was a bit of a handfull! Can't wait to get the 5.3 gator, on it's way this week!
Surely mermaid was way too onshore with it so easterly?
Jamie I ordered the gator last week the boys had to get it in for me so I am happy to wait a few days.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the couple of gents I had a chat to around or just down from The Train. Nice to meet you and sail with you and thanks for your advice on the spot etc.
Just wish I had more time to have sailed for longer and particularly at a lower tide to make use of the sand banks and flatter water.
