Sorry to announce the passing of long time sailor Richard Grimes who sailed for many years at Thompson's Beach Victoria Point. He also sailed at other locations but Thompson's was his favourite. He passec away this morning Wednesday 7th January. He was in his late eighties so led a busy life. Richard had a huge passion for windsurfing as well as many other activities such as kayaking, cycling, motor cycling and fishing. He will be sadly missed as he was a mentor to many with his vigor for life and passion for fitness. RIP Richard.

Thx Greg.

Richard was a gentleman on and off the water and always there when the wind was blowing.

Story goes, Richard was overseas back in the 70's when he saw these windsurfer things. When he got back to Australia he wanted to get one but they were not available. So he built one, thus becoming one of the first windsurfers in Australia. .
