Hooray suggests, I post approximately where we'll be over the next few weeks,
so here goes.
Tomorrow Sunday 3rd Airlie.
Monday, Tuesday. 4th 5th Cape Hillsbourgh.
Wednesday 6th Yepoon (with Sausage perhaps?)
Thursday 7th 1770
Fri- Mon 8th 11th Hervey Bay
Tues-Sun 12th 17th Gold Coast
Not a good time of year for wind, but you should really drop into Elliott Hds, near Bundaberg, for a look. Nice caravan park right on the beach, with nice cabins for a cheap rate.
It cranks in spring and sumer northerlies and summer and autumn SE blows.
Won't have time to sail Elliott heads but we drop in for a look.
Sorry Sausage, I don't drink beer, so keep those fingers crossed for some wind.
Not really the time of year for wind at EH anyway. Sometimes you can get a sailable SW, but it blows hard for 20mins, then drops out for at least as long, so you have to have a sandbank sorted to hang on while you wait for it to come back in.
LOts of nice strawberry farms in that area too, but I think you are just a mite too early. The wet weather held up the planting.
Great to catch up with Sausage and Jefrosail at Yepoon.
We're at 1770 tonight, looks very interesting, nice sandbar. Ocean side has waves peeling down it, other side is flat, but I think it would need some sort of westerly.
Does that happen here??
Mike,
Here's a link to a previous forum discussion on 1770 www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Gps/Has-anyone-Sailed-the-Channel-at-1770/?page=1
Westerlies just don't happen very often and even then they aren't that strong. I reckon the bar would work really well in a NE.
Hi Haggar,
At Hervey bar till Monday, trying to get Dot's Bro interested in taking his W.S. gear out, but you're right wind forecast doesn't look good.
He's offered to try and find some whales in his boat instead.
Thanks Sausage, interesting thread, I wondered about Lady Musgrove Island, when I saw the add for it.
Has anybody tried it yet?
