Day off tomorrow, so looking to go for a bit of spin in the waves on the gold coast.
Are any places better than others for getting in some jumping practice? Trying to learn forwards so just looking for small ramps with a bit of a runup.

Currumbin is probably best. Tomorrow looks like a on-cross-onshore.
There's not much swell at the moment so open beaches have a shorebreak and that's about it. Oh yeah, and a southerly sweep.
I'm planning on Currumbin tomorrow but can anyone tell me if 2pm will be too late? as the wind tends to drop off earlier on southern gold coast.
Currumbin was perfect for this yesterday, Wed. I got some HUGE jumps, though the wind was a bit holey.
Not sure if it's gonna blow today, can't see any trees moving down here a Tweed Hds at present. The chart is forecasting late wind, but that usually means a bust.
I'm gonna head to currumbin now and see what happens. hopefully be there by 1pm. If it's a no-go I might stop in at shearwater on the way back for a look!
cheers guys.

Good luck, there seems to be more wind now.
Just remember you need big sails at Currumbin. I'm 83kg, and I nearly always use a 6.2m. It's almost never as weindy as it looks, cos you are looking directly upwind from the car-park, and the sun is shining into the waves in the afternnon, making it look a lot rougher than it is. It's worth looking south down the beach to get a better idea of what the water really looks like.
Haha, last Saturday I could have used a 5m, but I didn't trust the wind and rigged teh 6.2. I wus a wee bit over-powered, and fell off a few gybes, but that's better than under-powered. The weekend before, I was in Bris ion a trainign course, and I know I missed a ton of great wind.
Wednesday was a more typical day, looked strong, but got out there and was a bit marginal, making me glad I rigged the bigger sail, so I expected yeterday to be similar. I
I had one of those "everything went wrong" days and realised during the drive I could only sail my 5.3, so I opted for Shearwater. (I was planning on Currumbin with a 5.8). I was watching the wind readings on coastalwatch on the way down and it looked like it was falling away as the day went on.
It was alright but gusty as hell. One second grossly overpowered, next second nothing. tough on the arms. I then managed to put a big gaping crack in the front of my pocket wave (still not sure how) which ended the session.
anyone get out at the 'bin?

Shame about that. I passed as I had a big sail the day before and needed to do some other things. I had a lot of those sucky days where nothing worked and everything went wrong over the last couple of years until I got a new board and a 6.2. Now I seem to get out all the time. It's been a great season though.
