Has anyone sailed at Norht Straddie? Where are the best places to sail. I'm interested in both wave and bay sailing. I've got a week booked at Point Lookout with the family in the last week in January. Deadmans Beach looks like it might work in a SE and the western end of Cylinders looks like it might work in a NE.
Ive sailed the open beach (cross -cross off) and jumpinpin bar (cross - cross on) on a NE. Both awesome fun. You can probably get to the open beach without a 4wd but need one for jumpinpin.
Cylinder tends to be very onshore in NE winds. You could try amity but it will be flat water.
Have fun.
Headed to Cylinder beach today for a week with the family. Very onshore with the North Easters but still good fun - beats hassling with the locals at Main Beach which is offshore in the northerlies. Take a SUP, a shortboard and a windsurfer and you will have a ball!
Hi John,
If your have your longboard with you then a good option is between Amity and Mortern Island inside the bar. The bar itself it ok to cross to if it's small, but it is mad with sharks. That run is also good on a short board just a bit more scetchy is things go wrong. Amity also had a sandspit past the campground which is has a lagon behind it that works on a northerly.
Another place that works is brown lake back in behind dunwich and its a nice spot to swim also.
Thanks for the advice. It looks like I've got some different options depending on the wind conditions.
I really think that Deadmans will work in a SE on either a FSW or Windsup.
Bryn,
I'm planning to participate in the Freerace series. See you then.
