yeah chears Gestalt, I was working on the big 50 million dollar house on hedges ave, the one owned by the young internet entrepeneur that has gone belly up for 100 mill!

we got a txt message the wed before easter "tools down, have an early weekend"

we waited 1 week, 2 weeks, now about 10 weeks later its over until a new owner snaps the house up for a cheap 16.5 mill, then spends another 3 on it to finish it!

Im now working with ClimateSmart doing the energy monitor stuff you see on tv, first week just gone but need to get some stuff sorted.

Anyways Ill buy new stuff and Im due for that, other than my board im keen on a new rig.

So mid summer I should be back on top, until then the 6'3" Stuart fish will be main toy.

yeah true eggs.

bit of pain seeing it go, but you have you have to do what you have to do.

And the good old Gold Coast rates just hit the mail box as well, awesome!

I will be spewing if the northerlies kick in and I have not got any gear.

Might even go try a kiting lesson as well, cheaper option if i want to re-setup for summer.

Kind of reminds me of when I quite racing motocross, or downhill mountain biking, I need to clear a few things, go make some money again and then get some new gear.

Im not too stressed over it, just need to get back on top of things, so the toys are first thing go.

Not two minutes ago I found the last one, still unpaid

Is it? Is it really?

Mermaid, mermaid , mermaid. How about Narrowneck? Does anyone still go there?

evil, heres my thing, I reckon I can count my truly good days sailing in the ocean one 1 hand, but I know for sure I have been frustrated with the inconsistant quantity of wind delivery over and over, and it has made me lose interest quite a bit, while I sit there annoyed the wind is blowing at 14 knots, not enough to blast out through the sets, I watch kiters all upand down the beach blasting.

So, if i decide to buy more gear, I may, and mean may, just look at the alternate and go kiting instead, just to get maximum use of my time.

Other than that surfing is my main thing, that is where my true passion is, therefore a temporary layoff from windsurfong wont bother me too much.

The big issue with the goldy is when the ne winds start, there is no real place to surf. So I need something to do.

Ive lost the thrill of any flatwater or bump and jump sailing, 1 hour and Im done with it.

I love hitting the waves, but I hate slogging in light winds, my options, dont windsurf or move to Maui! or maybe try kiting.

sigh, decisions decisions.

Sell up first, think later.

Hey MD,

With the wind that the goldy gets you'd probably be better off kiting... you can use your normal surfboards and if you keep a harness you can use that as well. So really you're just up for the cost of a secondhand kite, which for a decent one would probably be around the $600-800 mark.

Definitely get lessons though, those things'll kill ya otherwise!

(or if you want some decent wind then move to WA )

Things are cranking along here mate, just bought a house, all's good

You should find the transition to kiting easy, especially if you've flown stunt kites before... I found that the reflexes were pretty much the same. Also you'll be well ahead of the game with your surfing/windsurfing background.

Enjoy it mate, hope you sort out those rich pr!ck homeowners soon!

^ Also what is the diff between Mermaid and Narrowneck, wind wise, over summer?

MD: I've gone for a sail with you at Mermaid where we simply gave up, and then I was overpowered on the 6.5 at The Train not 30 minutes later.

Ive got Alphas, thats what I use.

Looks like Kiting will be my new thing over summer, I need to get my jollies and the wind is just not filling my windsurfing gear enough.

I know this is going to upset the sailing boys, but.....

More time on the water is guaranteed with kiteboarding.

Im sad to see my gear go for sure, i wish we had more 20-25kn days here.

I love it when the wind is up, hate it when its 10-12kn.

for E.P.

as a general NE seabreeze rule in summer:

- Southern end of goldcoast windier in morning till about 1pm when it tends to die back to a frustrating 12.5 knots for the arvo

- Northern end windier from about 1pm till 4pm, and sometimes longer if you been a good boy

if you wanted wind at 7am you can sometimes get 15knots at coolangatta

I will add that I have not really made a final decision, I will be a few months off being in the position to rebuy, that will be the time I make the coin flip,

heads - windsurfing

tails - kiteboarding
