Just when I thought I had sailed the lake in every condition a day like today comes along. Stonking 20 knots from the WEST. I hate westerlies! This was awesome, really solid, water was almost dead flat.
35 degrees, 20 knots and dead flat blue/green water just bizarre. Around 12 it just died.![]()
I was out on the water about 9am and it was fairly calm still up at Elanda Point. De-rigged headed back to the tent and get hit by some really big gusts, tent poles blown out, should have stayed a bit longer on the water, but had to pack up and head home unfortunately.
Congrats On the sail. it was pretty poor wind on Saturday, but I was using smaller then usual sail as we had a few kids learning on the old boards and having fun.
Missed the Westerly :( But did you get out around 3? Massive swing to the North and 15 (Maybe 20 in the gusts) came in. Classic Lake day, just when you think it's all over you get a good hour or two on the water till dark.
would have loved to have caught the lake with clear water. nice work.
I always just rig and leave rigged at the lake. just never know what will happen.
We left about 1:30pm yesterday, just as the wind was picking up. Kicking myself now as I haven't had a good sail for about 4 months. Would loved to have stayed out on the water longer in the morning when a few big gusts came in about 10:30ish but had my cousin with me for the weekend and he couldn't handle the 6m?? sail I had on, I was going to put the 4m?? on for him but ran out of time.
Next time will be better.
