I was thinking about heading to Lake Cootharaba this weekend. The forecast suggests around 15 knots NE. Does anyone know what Boreen Point is like in a NE-er or do you think I will be wasting my time driving up there?

The lake is great on a NE. its actually probably the most consistent out of all directions up there. Def worth the drive if you are up that way. One thing though is that sometimes down south can get windier than the sunshine coast on a NE.

Either way - you should at least get 15 up there. also the longest runs you will get at most spots!

have fun :)

Thanks guys but I just realised my error . I should have typed that it will be NW not NE. Would Boreen Pt be worth it in a NW? Thanks

it works in a NW but you have to launch from the northern side of boreen point,

the lake is extremely good spot in a northerly but gusty in a NW.

best 2 places hands down for NW winds are

Wellington point or North Kirra

other options are

scarborough at redcliffe
caloundra bar for down the line, incoming tide only.
mooloolaba, cross shore.
