Hows that work? ENE-Low tide? Where do you leave from?- Oatland Esplanade or Marine Parade,Quota Park? I've only really sailed at the Train but keen to know of a better spot.

hi. yes you can sail from oatland esp, or from the playground at lands end bridge. i usually go from oatland. NE is ideal

its best at 1/4 tide or higher but with a 22cm or less fin, you can still sail even dead low

water is flaaaaaat, and great for practicing stuff

this is from the lagoon today. it's taken me a long time to start to get flakkas, and it was the first time i've managed to do one on video

swoosh - if you are boored, i gives you a compilation of KFC northeasters from recent weeks, courtesy of a very patient chairman and the duck gybe princess.....take from it what you can

keeping hands in normal sailing position was a kind of breakthrough for me, i always thought they had to be back, like for a grubby or flat water loop etc.

carving downwind followed by raking the sail back like you were starting a carving 360, just before throwing it at somewhere between the nose of the board and into the wind, also helps throw your body and the board around..... i have discovered

i'm only half way there, at best, on the other tack. i'm pretty sure i've found this the hardest move yet

awesome footage. kfc is a pretty great spot to sail out of for spins, will have to sail around and check out this lagoon, do you mean the flat water on the west side of wavebreak? and where do you launch?

landed my first spock last week, so keen to get back into learning the flakas, i think i've got the start of them okay, just not throwing the sail far enough forward. At some stage i think i'm gonna have to stop putting it off and start learning how to do stuff both tacks

Sounds like there was a little frustration setting in for a while HC. Don't worry i get pissed off much quicker than that as you have probably heard from time to time. Frustrating sport this but o so worth it when conditions are good

The gybing area at the eastern end can be sublime; the wind direction curves around with you as you gybe. While the lagoon is dead flaaaaat there can be some nice bump'n'jump conditions in the channel to mix it up. There can even be some excellent ramps on the northern side of the lagoon, where the water is turquoise, just as the high tide has turned to going out.
