Hi,

My name's Dylan. I used to windsurf about 4 years ago, now I have bought some gear to take with me on the rest of my trip circumnavigating Aus.

I live and work around Everton hills (and will be until at leats xmas) I usually finish work around 1-2:00pm - I am looking to sail north of brisbane whenever possible.

I am a litte bit rusty - before I could use harness, footstraps and do deep water (up to neck) beachstarts, now Im not sure cos its been so long.

I bought a 120 litre board, which I can uphaul, but am still a litlle bit apprehensive cos its been a while.

What spots would provide the safest spots for me to get back to a level where I feel totally comfortable in getting the board back to the location I started from!

Also if anyone would like to go sailing with me drop me a line.

Hi Dylan,

You have just made the whole WQ forum green with envy. Circumnavigating AUS on a sailing trip is definately on the bucket list.

Have you tried rose bay in Manly. At high tide it is you basically go from one shore to the next so it is very difficult to get into trouble. It is also fairly sheltered from any major swell. There are a couple of rocks with oysters but any of the locals will tell you how to avoid them and if you wear boots it won't be a problem.

Plenty of friendly sailors to give you advice also.
