I sailed from 1pm after the rain til 4pm at Manly. OMG! the first time I had to come in as I got stung on the elbow and knee. The jellies were so thick that if you came off your board you were doing to get stung. They also constantly hit your fin as you tried to sail. 2nd sail one of the guys at Manly stated stick to rose Bay and it should be better. Thanks for that advice mate. There were definitely less of them in the bay.

Yeah lots at wello today also.
Lots of jellies and weed, made jumping in to clear the weed from the fin an interesting operation!

I had a go on my 120ltr saturday arvo and fell into a thick patch just out the front of RQ and got instantly stung from head to toe, one of the stings hurt quite a bit felt like someone poured hot water on my arm. I ended up kneeling on my board until I drifted out of them as I wasnt keen on waterstarting and uphauling a smaller board in choppy conditions seemed risky as well. Think I,ll stick to the RSX while there around.

Sounds painful Cammd. Might chuck the wetsuit in the kit if there is any wind from the low coming in.

Had few hop on board during tacks on Sunday. It took a while to shake the largest off that metre wide nose, and I stepped on another when putting my back foot in the strap - it stung me! little bastard. Still came out in front: 70cm fin 300+ vs jellies 1. Ha!

Wishfull thinking but I really hope you are right. Looks like there is a bit of breeze about tomorrow so hopefully we will wake up and the scurge will be gone...

They were thick like the photos above at Redcliffe a few weeks ago. They're only juveniles the size of an apple. Shoal size is limited too, just sail through and out the other side. They don't slow you up much.

i haven't seen any in plague proportions for many years (circa 2005?), and have mayby seen one or two in the last few years. I think we only ever see them during hotter summers. we've bearly had a temp above 30 degrees the last few years.

i've seen more blue bottles (stingers), and on the odd northerly day we'll get them at shearwater as well as in the surf, but it's rare

Sailed at Manly this arvo and the jellyfish were few are far between. Southerlies must have blown them away..(for now) They are however still billions of the f@#kers out at Green Island. Not a good place to break a mast and have to paddle back from.(Eh Leo)..Good on that Laser sailor who towed him back.

Awesome news, I'm packing the car for an afternoon session at Manly. Hard luck for Leo, not nice to break kit out back at the best of times, let alone when the scurge is about.

There was hundreds of the pricks at Shearwater on Saturday. Once the tide started coming in they all but disappeared up North again. It's the first time i've seen them since i've been going there. There was none at all yesterday
