i've noticed that the blue flubber jellyfish and pelicans have been absent from the goldcoast and noosa for the last few seasons. The jellies are back in the broadwater channel again in their thousands at the moment.

the last time i remember seeing jellies like this at the goldcoast, we had a really hot, dry and windy summer

will and i sailed an awesome spot at bribie island yesterday arvo (dubbed by will as a spot called 'shipwrecks' - just off the northern end of sylvan beach esp) , perfect flat water on the inside and full power 5.0 wind. And outside in the deeper channel there were MILLIONS of jellies. fingers crossed for a windy sea breeze season. they've been great so far

we went fishing off Bribie on Ekka PH and they were everywhere along the edge of Bribie.

Bowsa, Thanks for the feedback about "shipwrecks" - was it gusty until you got the further out?

gusty at times but overall very very good. bribie gets a much stronger seabreeze being a bit further out from the mainland

Pity about the jellies but hopefully you are right about the dry windy summer. Had a brilliant time yesterday afternoon at Manly and the wind had that consistent, powerful feel it used to have pre drought. Fingers crossed.

I am pretty sure that riding over jelly is not completely harmless.
I feel recently when planning on Shearwater that my fin hit something from time to time.
What else it could be if not a jelly?

There are lots of houseboats on the broadwater.......therefore there are lots of random poos floating around. Be careful when wiping the mud off the leading edge of your fin with your fingers cause those houseboat dudes all have hep C or herpes. Hope this helps.

Hit a tampon the other day, spunout, came off and landed in a pile of house boat sh1t. Got pissed off so came in. Stood on a used syringe and sat in some dog poo while unrigging...Time for QDT/GCCC to actually police this madness.

As they are all right under the noses of the authorities I am 100% sure that they all empty their bilges out at sea 100% of the time. Just like the laws stipulate

I sailed from Wynnum out round Green Island and back via Wello Yesterday and the whole bay is wall to wall Jellies - I bet a lot are cut in half now since I was on my Formula and could constanly feel the fin hitting them...

From memory they seem to take a bit longer to hit wello with constant Northerlies
hope the wind keeps shifting to sou-easterlies so we don't get them
