Hi, this is a reintroduction.

Im 16 and live in yeppoon, i work at a fish and chip store near the beach, and for a while ive been watching kite and wind surfers out there having some fun.

I have got some money and i am interested in trying either of these, but i don't want to fork out and buy something that i can't/won't use.

Are there any wind/kite surfing schools around here or failing that, someone who wouldn't mind taking me out 1/2 times to see what its like?

Thanks,
Sam

I would try to get a bigger board unless your 50kg sails not ideal but would work, good price though.

Hi Sam

My name is Mathew and I live in Rockhampton, but sail off the Yeppoon Main beach. Most of the windsurfers rig and launch next to and in front of the Yeppoon sailing club. Sonic is right, if you do come down one of days we are on the water I'm sure any of us will be able to help where we can. The biggest problem you may find is that not many of us have beginners gear to teach you on otherwise I would be more than happy to give you a hand. I will send you my mobile number to your Seabreaze account, and you can give me a call if you wish.

Regards
Mat

The one with the AHD 116L may be alright, though it depends on your weight. Will need to confirm the width of the board as this is the most important thing to consider especially when learning. Also, this board comes with a heap of gear that may put it out of your price range.

The other two boards are very old school. I learn't on these type of vintage boards and it isn't easy. However, I always knew this was the sport for me so I was not going to give up, plus I always planned to upgrade to new gear. The newer boards, say late 90's onwards, are much easier to use.

Just bear in mind that I think there would be a few guys in Yeppoon or Rockhampton that may have some gear that may be suitable.

The Yeppoon sailing club does have some modern begineer gear, but I think you may have to be a member to use it. Have a chat to them.

Also, check out the following Qeensland shop's web sites below, they may also be able to provide good information and may even have some appropriate gear in your price range.
