GI was really nice this last weekend. Just thought I'd mention that.
Clear water, steady strong wind, good company and sensational food at the resort.
A few irukandji on Sunday which cut short the fun, but I was stuffed by then anyway.
Seriously, worth every cent for a weekend getaway. The forecasts up here are pretty reliable too, as it's far enough out not to be subject to the "lighter inshore" caveat that often goes with the strong wind warnings. If it says it's going to blow, I think it usually does.
Just make sure you organise some wheels for your gear. Carrying it up on the way over was not so bad, but carrying it back wet the next day with a somewhat broken body was murder.
Brilliant spot, I have to say and many thanks to Kelly for all his kind and generous help and advice.
Staying at the resort is the way to go, nearly killed me humping the gear on that ferry everyday..............
Yeah, the daily rate seems a bit steep at first, but by the time you factor in transfers and convenience, it's worth every cracker. Really first class resort too.
If you had a family on the standby/locals rate, it would actually work out pretty cheap.
