With 6 weeks to go who is heading north for the winter ?
So far from Sunshine Coast area
Michael Jones
Zane Hacker &
Bryn Somers
A trailer is going with us which will have space for addtional sails, masts, booms and maybe a board or two if this helps anyone.
I am also heading up with my trailer - but leaving on 7th June and may end up having a week in Rocky on the way back for work..
4 Weeks today and I'm on my way... can't wait
My plans for a 24hr attemp are moving on well... not definate on support boats yet - and probably won't be confirmed until the week or so before I do it.. but am planning on going for the 24hr record starting Friday evening (21st June) at Mission Beach south of Cairns - so long as the wind and my final preperations go according to plan. May do a Night start and finish in the afternoon/evening on Saturday 22nd at Port Douglas..
If/when I do it I will post a link to a site that will have up to the minute position and speed data using a Iridium GPS..

what dates are you planning to go up.
cheers Vando
Hey guys, I am heading up too, just taking 1 board 2 sails I think. I think Sean O and Luke Baillie are doing the drive a couple weeks earlier also. Looking forward to it!!!
Official pre test visit ... Bloody warm up here, humid sunny warm! Quite busy in town also, quick trip just to make sure it's warm ....yep it is... Back to the not so Sunshine Coast Thursday ..looking forward to Neil st Sat!
So a quick update...
Jonsey is picking up his 'new' board tomorrow and Vando has dropped off his 'light wind' gear.
Zane turned up to mine on departure with a new tent and we had some 'quality time' to talk about priorites.
Brisbane to Rocky is a bitch with the roadworks but onwards to Bowen is good.
Cairns by happy hour tomorrow.
Aww can just see the two of you singing campfire songs and toasting marshmallows by the roadside campfire! What a lovely couple!
Allow an extra hour for between Townsville and Cairns due to Lots of roadworks and places where for no reason at all someone is standing with a stop sign.
Good to see the mix of states competing, It's quite a long haul from Tazzie and WA up to FNQ,
Good Luck everyone
With our first official 'LayDay' a moment to post a couple of pics...there no doubt will be some amazing pictures to come out of the event,, lots of fancy lenses around the place...Heli Shoots on the reef, flicky spinny tricks in perfect tropical lagoons, serious speed sailing on the weekend and tight Slalom racing later in the week..
So here are a few dodgy pics.
The weekend was really windy..like 'proper wind' awesome fun, could of sailed small boards and 5m sails no problems if you wanted to..then its gradually decreased each day to almost none , last day of Slalom was super light, really big gear required..as always when we all have to leave ...the forecast for next week looks windy as!...has been amazing sailing..probably done about 8-9 hrs of sailing over 4 days..Cairns is busy there is a real vibe in the air, lots of people up here from all over the world, everyone is in great spirits, good times for all, nice warm days..the water temp is amazing! especially at low tide..

Anyone seen Rob up there! I don't see his name in the results table? Said he was driving up for the event.
thanks for the update. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
