I'm working in Townsville for a few weeks and have 2 days off. Is there any gear hire here ?
I've had a google, and found nothing. Note: I am stuck here and can't drive to Bowen/Green Island etc (it has to be walking distance from the CBD).

PS/ This is a pretty cool city. For those that say is that TWL is the ar*ehole of QLD, go live in Elizabeth Downs, Andamooka, or Katherine NT. Trust me man, Townsville is okay. I drove into Andamooka once, and ended up driving into the rubbish trip because I couldn't tell the difference between the town and the rubbish trip, and as for Katherine... 
Sorry no hire gear here and the strand is not the best ,Pallarenda is the go.What days are you free ,maybe pm me and we could organise something.Cheers.
I see what you mean. I walked down the strand today (bare footed 
). I estimated it to be 10-15 and 15-20 at times looking at the caps out the back. It was pretty gusty on the beach. I would definately be having fun on either my small gear or the big slalom gear (pref slalom gear if it was lake gusty).
I've got tomorrow off and got the car. I'll have a drive to Pallarenda tomorrow. If I see anyone I'll say hello. Thanks for the offer. I'm happy just to watch
Is the stinger season reliable ?... or are they around on days when the water is warm ?. I saw a few people swiming in the ocean today unprotected.
Note: I can see why this region doesn't get any rain. It's almost like Townsville is in the middle of a bluff.
Was been very gusty the last few days,I was out on a 7.5 and the big Ray yesterday.Stinger season is over untill Oct Nov.We rigg and sail from beach accesss # 10 along the beach before you get to the kiters.The wind is supposed to be dropping so not sure if it will happen today.
