Update on progress with current leaders points board below.

With events planned each month in different locations throughout summer there is still plenty of time to get involved and quickly get to the top of the ladder.
Next event is scheduled for Mooloolaba but is subject to a N/NE wind (15+knts) , if we cant get a NE the event will switch to a suitable S/SE venue, so stay tuned here and on the Face book page.

Remember part of the event philosophy is that we only run when its 'windy', which means dates and locations may be flexible to accommodate the wind gods.

The 1Hr format is proving to be a great test of sailors overall skill, tactical awareness, fitness and durability on the water, sailors to need to be able to adapt to the water conditions at the venue and be able to plot the best course that they believe will gain them an edge on overall distance sailed, it of course helps if you can crack a few decent gybes also!

Current 1HR World Record Holder Brad Anderson lead by example in the round 3 event at Cootharaba, with a cracking pace in smooth to choppy waters and showed us all how its done.

If your currently sailing in GPS teams/comps, or just free sailing why not come and test yourself in one of these events and see how you compare to others sailing in exactly the same conditions as yourself on the day.

You may be able to crack 40knt runs on a perfect speed run or sail 100+km's at your 'local' , but lets see if you can put it all together for 1hr on race day, just like Brad did!

Events promote windsurfing, not just to other windsurfers but also the general public and go a long way towards attracting new and or past participants to the sport, and that is what the Freerace series is about.

If the above sounds like a challenge...it is! Get of your screens, stop looking at how great your GPS numbers are or are not on the computer, come and show us in the flesh how good you are!

Who knows you may even win a great prize on the day just for participating!

See you at the next event!

Seasons Greetings from all at Freerace Qld, hope we all get plenty of wind and time on the water over the break.
With the next scheduled event not until mid/late January it's a good time to reflect on what has been.

To our Knowledge we are the first and only racing series in the world to have adapted the 1hr Freesail GPS concept for an entire series, so you are participating in ground breaking stuff!
We have to be one of the best value events going around. When you compare us to the Ledge to Lancelin where you pay $100 for approx 1Hr of sailing, half that if your a pro! you get 5Hrs with Freerace for the same value, no dodgy starts from the back of the pack, FR comes with a WIND guarantee (if its not windy we don't race, which means you only really need to 1 board 1/2 sails to be competitive) No giving the Pro's a massive head start before you even get wet, NO dodgy course setting with almost impossible off the wind sailing angles, NO Craypot lines to trip you up, and a guarantee of the same wind and same conditions for ALL competitors as everyone is sailing at the same time.

The GPS Freesail 1HR concept evens up the field and conditions to even playing field for all, there is no luck in it, and plenty of time to recover from mistakes, it rewards consistency and durability over the hour and you don't need to be the fastest 2 second or 10 second sailor, you need to be the most consistently fast for not one event but an entire series.

Plus with Free Race ALL your entry fee's get reinvested back into the Sport and local Club, not to pay a professional events company to run the event.

Prizes are also RANDOM which means last place has as much chance of wining something great as First place!

Queensland Freerace with WINDWANDERERS and our excellent Sponsors has so far given away over $1,000 in prizes to competitors!! with more to come after the Xmas Break, from sponsors such as Flying Objects & Surf Connect and more, below is a sample of some of the lucky random winners so far.

Special thanks to the sponsors below, along with our Premier Sponsors, please make sure you support these guys next time you need to get some gear.

Bud @ WINDSURFING SALES (Loft Sails)
