Autumn brings the SE'ers to south-eastern QLD. This can extend up to mid/northern QLD, which thus brings the wind into Elliott Heads. In these conditions I can vouch for some good bump'n'jump at Elliott Heads, and even some glassy-flat conditions behind the sandbar within the river-mouth.
This coming weekend looks windy, which would typically want to do a two-day trip. This is 3hr drive each way.
Are there any other people that do such longer-distance trips, based on the forecast ?
Saturday had the wind switch on at 25+kn for most of the day, so was able to sail from all arvo with a 4.2m and 70l wave board. Sunday was about 14-16kn running along the speed-ditch. Monday was about 25kn for a few hours in the morning.
Was low tide in the middle of the day, and there is a lot of sand forming the exposed sand-flats, thus the speed-ditch is still for a short run (30kn is an easy speed to hit).
