Anyone going to be sailing at Bowen this weekend? forecast looks ok for Sat but a bit lighter on Sunday....
Where would be the best spot with low tide in the middle of the day???
Cheers

Hasn't been as much I would have hoped for today, saturday arvo could be good for the mouth of Don, tried it today but I undersized my sail choice and it was a bit of a slog, next weekend looks better on the forcast charts. If your keen give me a yell, I'm working on my trailer tommorrow morning but will be keeping an eye on it.
Plan is to hit the flat water strip at the don when the easterley hits around 2-4pm.
Usually rig around 6 to 7 meter there as it can be a bit holey.
Any way I'll be on mobile 0434 718 751.
Cheers, I'll see how the breeze looks down here in Airlie tommorow , seemed to be ok this afternoon. Was going to hit Conway tommorow but may do the drive to Bowen to have a go up there.
May catch you in the arvo sometime....

Hi Wormy,
A couple of senior grand masters heading up your way next week from bris. Will phone you when we arrive if thats OK?![]()
Yep looks the goods for Bowen thursday, fri and sat will be there, will try to get the lads up here organized for a road trip, there is a swag of new gear ready to hit the water.
Ended up just going to Conway, only to be disapointed...... was only blowing about 10 knots!!!! the breeze in Airlie this morn was a good 15-20 kts, so was hopeful Conway would be alright. One lone kiteboarder gave it a go but even he packed up and went home..... The Blo-karters were going ok tho!!!!!
Cheers

Hi Nomad, I was up there looking around a few weeks ago at Conway and wondering if those sand bars might make for a good speed run mid tide? Also wondering how far those prossy river crocs venture out into the bay !
Should of been here this morning(tuesday), 25-30knts, on my 94l with 5.2 ezzy still way overpowered, hopefully it'll blow for a couple of days yet. When are you old fellas getting here![]()
Hi Sailpilot, Conway midtide you still get a bit of chop/ small breaking waves as it only gets good breeze on a SE'r which is pretty much onshore. Pretty shallow most of the time as the tide is coming in. You can get some good flatwater runs depending on fin size.
The kiters get it best as they get right in the shallows behind any of the bars.
Crocs well I try not to think of them and dont ask any questions either!!!! seen plenty of them up the river but not in the mouth yet, but i dont try to look too hard........
Were are you dudes, its been blowin its guts out, had one of the best this year this morning on the 5.2.
This weekend lookin poo hot.![]()
I am thinking in goind down to bowen this weekend. Any suggestions on where to sail and stay? I am planning to stay asleep in my van, is that ok?
thanks
miguel
If you want to free camp theres a couple of places, your not supposed to but doesn't seem to worry anybody else, sailing club is right where we sail. Probably sneek in there.
I will probably get down his weekend and due to past events I will be lookin for a new camp spot as well, hey Miguel do you want me to bring your board down or do you want to pick it up here? My # 0408747243.Up here has been absolute crap wind wise.
Hi nigel, I was thinking giving you a call today. Yes, it would be great if you could take the board`with you. But if you are struggling with space, I am happy to drop by your place before leaving and take it in my car.
Anyaway I'll call you later, have to go drop wife and kid
see you
