Hi Guys,
It's my first post here. It's looking good for a NWer on Saturday (shame I have to work tomorrow ). What are the best places in SE Qld to sail a NWer? I've got a new GPS and a couple of sails I'm dying to try...

Cheers.

Thanks Gestalt,

I haven't sailed Wello in years. Is the NW as gusty as the SW? I'm guessing the best run would be King Island to Lota? Starboard tack out?

It will stay NW until lunch and swing north, may even go NNE until4/5pm and then back to N----NW, when its hotter tomorrow it has a better chance of going NE.

Brisbane forecast is slightly better than the Gold Coast, has to be Wello gusty or not,get what you can this time of year.

Welcome.

Isn't the old saying "head north in a northerly"?

very rare will you sail in the morning in a northerly, it just doesnt build up that way, now a southerly thats possible.
Anyone agree?

Work Principles vs Windsurfing, what a fight.

I can but where? BOM and Seabreeze give differing opinions.

Mirage even perhaps?

Friday until midnight: N/NW winds 10/15 knots, increasing to 15/20 knots late
morning and increasing further to 20/25 knots in the afternoon. Inshore
afternoon NE sea breezes. Seas 1.2 metres, rising to 2.2 metres during the
afternoon.

Saturday: NW winds 20/30 knots, decreasing to 20/25 knots by midday and 15/20
knots in the late afternoon. A 15/20 knot S/SE change expected in southern
waters during the afternoon and evening. Seas 2.5 metres, abating to 2 metres
during the afternoon.

Sunday: NW/NE winds 15/20 knots north, SW/SE winds at 10/15 knots south. Winds
NE/NW winds extending throughout during the afternoon and increasing to 20/25
knots.

Translation: It's coming from everywhere.

Oh yeah, to answer you question CheekyMonkey on the Gold Coast at least Kirra is the place for a NW.

Right now I'd be more than happy with a mid-late arvo sail at the train today.
Big gear, flat water, raking the sail back and just lazing in the harness and the warm sun. Might just be there.

Hmmm - not sure where to go hey! Just got my gear back from lord howe, have been itching for a sail!

HC - you have to WORK???? What!!! i thought that was night time only? (if ever :))

Would be great to catch up with the crew early at kirra, but am very keen for some freestyle too so cant decide!

OK - lay out your plans everyone! So far Kirra early is looking like the pick -hope it doesnt drop off too quickly though. So its either that or wello but the tide is crap?

Kirra, Haven't been there yet. Someone was saying about a sandbank/ gutter running paralell with the shore. So is it flat water and breaks outside that ?
