Hey all

I often wonder how fast I am going in about 20 Knots of wind. Does any one have a GPS and what kind of speed they normally pull in about 20 Knots...? and yes I know what rig makes a massive difference to speed.

Wave gear about 25knots.

Slalom gear up to about 35knots.

Somewhere between those two.

When Mark says up to I think he means "peak speeds"

I would have said in 20 knots most folks regularly travel around the 22-24 knots when running 'square' to the wind which is the way most people sail.

Looking at the best speeds over a Nautical mile there are very few people who can average over 27 knots in 20+ knots of breeze - especially given the lack of flat water conditions in QLD.

In fact if you look at the 1 hour averages there are only a few people who can average over 18 knots for 1 continuous hour.
