You can come up for one day only if you want.
Hmmm...Seabreeze and BOM are having a serious disagreement about this one. Anything over 5 and I'm sweet, but Seabreeze has the wind going around in circles at 2 knots.
And the winner is...Seabreeze! The wind did indeed go around in circles at 2 knots right on cue. But there were a couple of decent races in addition to the more "challenging" ones. Unfortunately Tony was on boat duty again so I was the only sailboard there. Still, a beautiful weekend on the lake, and with so many different kinds of boats on the water always something to watch during those long downwind runs.
Memorable moment #1: arriving at the bottom mark at precisely the same time as a dozen A class cats and Nacra 5.8s. I thought I was about to die. Especially seeing as the approved method for mark rounding among our twin-hull brethren seems to be for everyone one to aim full speed for the same spot yelling at the top of their lungs. I would have thought taking an outside track to avoid the pile-up might have made sense, but hey, what do I know about cat racing?
Memorable moment #2: Level pegging upwind with a 14' skiff, getting a little puff and pulling smoothly away. The RSD2 really does go upwind like a dream in 8-10 knots of breeze. 'Course, once we got to the top mark the skiff put up about an acre of spinnaker and showed me exactly who's boss. Watching a 14 with two on the wire full stretch in 10 knots of breeze is just magic. Gotta wonder what on earth they do in 20 knots.
Thanks again to the LCSC crew for a great weekend.
