After yesterday's fun and game at the 'Bin, and with the swell and wind forecast to increase, hopes were high today would also deliver the goods.
I arrived at the Alley to find Finno heading off to buy a new boom after bending his old like a pretzel.
Shane confirmed that he'd been out off the beach since since 9am, had then scored a few smokers in the Alley before his boom broke (fortunately while he was on the inside), and that it was indeed as good as it looked!
Oli then headed out, with Matt not far behind hm, so I took the opportunity to get some shots of the pair in action before I too was out there!
It certainly was a challenging day, with some mean rogue sets rolling through, lots of water washing through the lineup, and wind that kept "switching off" at the most inopportune moments...
But with only four of us out and an abundance of waves on tap it was well worth the effort.

Out there!

Th boys talk tactics...

Matt charging it!

Oli going up and over

Driving down the line

PS: Pat O. rolled up late, raced out off the back beach(!!!), and snared some bombs on the wide bank!

no, about 10-15 mins north by car from the SuperBank (which hasn't really been that super of late... not enough sand). It is the next point break north of Kirra which is the northern most tip of the Super Bank.

The Superbank forms from the point at Snapper rocks, past Greenmount and can see good waves forming all the way through to Kirra on a near perfect swell. Unfortunatly due to the Greenmount headland and Point Danger the area is blocked from wind so un sailable for down the line stuff. Realisatically it is also far too busy to sail anyway.

I once sailied Kirra Point in the late 80's in a big storm swell, but never really got to the point as such, only sailed the outside break (is was breaking about 1km out to sea).

All this is making me very homesick, and looks like by the time I get home tomorrow all will be left is some swell, but no wind.
