Yes "amusing" is a good way of putting it looking at the forecast. See you down there.

of course as soon as you start talking about the wind it will disappear...

first rule about windsurfing: don't talk about wind more than 3 days out.

Seabreeze is the worst at swell prediction. Everywhere else is indicating bugger all swell that I can see.
There is some waves around at the moment though.

yes Dunc, they do tend to overestimate the swell (like the BOM who overforecast everything)
although to be fair swell doesn't necessarily translate to equivalent waves/surf.

So often it's ten foot and here they say two. I've noticed it seems to be just in trend with what the wind is doing. The graph is really odd.

Hope that weekend forecast comes back a bit. Was hoping to get out a birubi for the first time this year. Had so many decent sails there last winter.

Haha. I was thinking the same. Today they forecast 1mtr swell for Sydney. I spent the afternoon watching guys getting absolutely shacked in double overhead barrels at Bondi (of all places). One of them was taj.

Coastal watch say there is a possible 8ft swell Monday. Coastal watch 8 ft = mast and half

Well the green arrows are back for Sunday. So whats the bet the arrows turn brown, green, yellow and red before Friday? No way would I be taking a sailing boat out in the open ocean this weekend.

Wel is Friday and ssshh, still looking good (saying it quietly)

Looking like some good bump n jump at laperouse sat arvo (after work) and some speed on Sunday....now where to go, north or south???

Given e current forecast on Sunday SW, would lake Illawarra or canton be better ?

Probably head to st george sailing club early sunday and catch the 9L30 low tide if the wind is up.
at .5 the sand bar should be pretty well exposed and some nice flat water to bear away gybe in.

plus i cant be bothered driving 100 km either north or south :)

I almost forgot about the sandbar. Last time I tried it in flaky winds it took about 1/2 hour and 30 gibes to get there by which time the wind was almost gone. Fingers crossed for the weekend.

Also hot showers and cheap beers after your workout :) they also make a decent coffee!

Looking to go for a sail this morning, for Sydney guys do you think Sandringham or Foreshore Drive? Looking like a fair bit of west in it at the moment.

May be a bit too much south for foreshore, so you.ll have a shorter run with the new port getting in the way. Sandringham is fine in ssw, you have a bit of wind shadow near the shore but should be ok with a decent wind. Dolls point is probably the the best spot for the direction but tides can play havoc with your sailing there.

GL with rain.

Tide is coming in now, so wind against tide at sandringham and dolls point, which might be a bit interesting in 35kts

But better than foreshore which will be super rough, it's too S.

Challenge accepted.

I need a ~4.7.
This is going to test the 5.4 SuperFreak's wind range.

Oh... thought it looked like it could be a good spot for doing some lessons.
I better stay away, wouldn't want beginners on 200 litre boards and 3.0 sails breaking any of your records :)
The search continues.

Was only kidding. It may be a good spot in the right direction as its shallow for quite a long way, but water is a bit grotty.

Dolls Point was good. A little over powered at times but it dropped near the end of my session and had a comfortable sail in wind against tide conditions. Some awesome port tack ramps to be had there. Good angle in a ssw. +++

Some kiters turned up when I started and had finally rigged and launched when I finished. WTF?

Would go back again. Nice rigging area. Plenty of parking, in winter. Nice ramps and excellent gybing areas at each end.

Just starting to feel my toes again now. I must say though I do love that feeling after a cold session when you're in the car and warming up and your extremities get that warmth as they come back online again.

Just wait for those SSW storms in August. That gives freezing toes a whole new meaning.
