Its pretty crap there in a SSE. You are sailing straight out into the lake and the water is very choppy. Not bigger chop which you can sail over nicely. Smaller chop your board hits every half a second when planing. Plus the wind is gusty as its coming over the land and trees.

Why not sail somewhere else? Even on the other side of the lake the sailing would be better.

I was going to go to Valentine..Stopped at Marmong & SE at that stage and c 10kts so got the board out, several kiters setting up.By the time I got the board out the wind had died. The one kiter was standing in the water waiting for enough wind to start ( now that's when you know there isn't much wind!). I could see there was more further east so went to Coal pt.
SSE by then so onshore + cold + raining and I'm thinking why am I doing this? Rain passed and I thought well if I spent 1hr getting here I'm going out..
I really enjoyed it! 7.2m + 125 for an hour - 10-15kts gusty. Planing most of the time although had to work at it didn't fall in got going well at times..Nicest sail I've had a for a while. It's good when you select the right size gear..
Rus Belmont slip can be ok in a SE but the bay can get megachop.
The 125 slammed on the big chop at times today..Have to get a 105ltres.

I have sailed the slips in a SE & it is choppy, u get SE chop with wind & straight S chop witch seems bigger than the SE chop. it very bumpy. I got plenty of other toys to play with.

Yep I've never liked sailing there when it gets to 15kts + too choppy.I thought it was just me using too big a board.. Too mogully..

hey, in a SSE, we usually hit canton, you can still get an ok sail in the flater bit, before bouys, you can still bear off for about 600m, wind is usually patchier in close, and harder to get back upwind in one tack, if its strong, its a pretty sweet session, you can also hit the corner of lake munmorah, prefers SE, thats a flat session, for anything southerly, when searching for flat, in sydney and central coast, canton is overall winner, canton prefers SSW for best sess, i reckon, but if its strong from the south, theres a flatish session to be had there, SW in sydney, maybe tarren pt for flat water, i tell ya, peel st, toukley in a NE is a flatish sess all over, thats the best overall that ive sailed in sydney and central coast, especially in terms of large flatish area rather than super glass strip.
