For anyone not following the Red Bull action in Tassie:

In 2006 Johnny Pott arrived in Marrawah, loved it so much decided to live there. Wasn't long before he discovered Back of Lighthouse (BOL) which was a world class reef on our doorstop that we never even knew was there.

Eight years later his passion and love for BOL all came together and he pulled off one of the most epic wave events the world has ever seen.

Well that's all that needs to be said.........let the Red Bull website http://www.redbullstormchase.com/mission-2#top and the pics say the rest.

Great photos Houston! Don't forget Quentin Bye discovered that joint when he was living there around 2002 and ran the SmackFest final there in 2004. One hell of a crazy place. I cannot comprehend how those blokes sailed that place in those conditions. Unreal. Congrats to organisers for pulling it off.

Think tappo was sailing the joint long before either of them were born. Either way balls of steel I recon.

Yeah I thought of Quentin after I put up the post. Tappo took some photos of him at Temma in an 8m swell in cross shore conditions I believe he was the first.

Do surf sailors ever wear helmets? Some of those wipeouts look nasty.. Do they ever get hit in the head with the gear?
