Looks like the Firelight. It can be s heavy wave and nasty launch. Did Duncan launch over the rocks?

only when it gets really really big. this is actually a pretty scary break when it's big.

It breaks over a bomby into a deep channel. When you get munched by a wave in the wrong section your kit is almost guaranteed to get sucked under. I have seen someone get hammered only to have his entire kit disappear for a few seconds. It popped up 20 meters away long after the wave had gone.

Add to it that it's only sailable in SW direction which means when you break something you'll get blow out to sea. Oh and did I mention the sharks breeding just around the corner of the headland... not a spot for people that get easily scared.

To be honest, I think Dunkan has some balls sailing there alone.

I haven't been in the Manly Daily yet for sailing the Q'Cliff bombie. That is a bit of a 'Homer' on the bucket list.

It breaks maybe 5-6 times a year from about 1.5-2.0 metres. Then you need a pretty strong S wind. It's not really that good a surfing wave as it rolls or pitches from different spots and doesn't have a big shoulder so better suited to either tow-in or SUP or wavesailing! ENE swell or S/SE swell it will break. Sometimes the fatter waves will carry through to the beach so that's when you are happy to be on a waveboard.

Launching is straight off the beach which can be difficult esp at lower tide. Hence the need for the strong wind. Often the v strong southerlies mid year have are SSW so sometimes the harbour is the go.
