Could help with promoting the sport?

Considering most dog owners who exercise their dogs are reasonable people it could make the environment there a bit more friendly in summer.

Yep can't wait to have uncontrolled dogs running over my sails.

I'm all for having more dog beaches, maybe they should make Yarra bay dog friendly instead considering everyone already takes there dog there.

My dog has learnt not to go any where near sails! Mind you I almost got into a fight at cronulla after a dudes dog jumped over a kite then over my sail. The bloke watched it all and did nothing. The second time it went over my sail it got a wholoping. I hate to touch someone else's dog but control the bloody thing, well at lest after you see it causing grief. The next few minutes were interesting.

There is a mosque at the end of my street and my dog is always in the back lane when I'm doing stuff in the garage and all the guys heading down there are all terrified of the friendliest Labrador in the world it's wired watching them run away as she tries to say hello?

Nothing like treading in dog ****e when carrying your gear in bare feet.....

But have you ever rigged or sailed from up on that beach up the northern end under the old control tower?

It stinks because that's where people let their dogs (& greyhounds!) run around unleashed & crap everywhere.

Nuh! Our beach is a people beach - not for self indulgent people with pets who think their precious is so cute & inoffensive & ......rant over, feel better

are you talking about dog **** corner man????? ha, this guy used to pull up in a van, open the back, and out jump a dozen hound dog looking things, ha,........some sweet sailing up there but, easy parking, and closer to the water......................but rigging up with a lot of dog **** everywhere

There's an off lead dog beach in Kurnell too. This makes me think that there are possibly more around Sydney.

Kyeemagh is a weird place to have an off lead dog area. Given Rockdale council's past performances, maybe a councilor lives there and has a dog.

We'll started to get less parking and more dogs and poo. They will be truck loads of dogs coming from Penrith, campbeltown and all M5 , M2 motorway s bringing the digs for a swim .

This is so true, There is an of leash park/beach near Church Point/Mona Vale area. I sometimes take my dog down there. Its always packed, parking is at a premium - busnisses(oportunists) have set up mobile dog washes on the weekends. Boaties beach their boats and dogs launch themselves of the bow run up hand down the beach at great speed. It does kind of works at this location though because its not used for anything else.

Kyeemagh North End is pretty much the first beach you come accross from the high density city areas - People will flock here and release their hounds and cause all sorts of havoc - not just to windsurfers but to beach goers and their young children fishermen etc.


I'm not for it - not there anyway - and why do of leash areas have to be on beaches?

Good point. What do dogs see in a beach anyway? Our local off lead area is a beach. Get there, dogs are gone, under the fence of the adjacent sewerage farm where there's half a chance of catching a rabbit. Left to walk the beach by myself, meet them at the car later. Dogs just need a large tangled, disused area away from fast traffic.

Real about what? I take it you all don't have dogs, it's a shame.

Truthfully I would love to have a windsurfing spot I could take my dog, she love to get up on the board and go for a sail.

I can understand the concerns that a lot of sailors quite rightfully have. I would suggest if you see someone not controlling there dog or not picking up after it you confront them about it, or if you didn't want the confrontation take there license plate down ring the council. people should not neglect thier dog responsibilities and think they can get away with it.

A real concern is having a dog run over your sail, I believe the owner of the dog would have to be responsible and pay for replacement/repair, the reality however may be a different story. I think it would be a good question for council..."who is going to pay for my sail repair if a dog runs over it in a off leash area, and how can I ensure it does get paid for? "

The reality is (i would imagine) in Sydney there are vastly more dog owners who would want to use the area with there dog than windsurfers who use the area?

Anyway you've got all winter to debate it.
