Southerly is definitely one of the two worst directions for Narra. The wind comes over the top of Collaroy Plateau and is horribly gusty and swirly.
On your pic the wind is still gusty as it comes over Cromer golf course, the vegetation and housing has increased so its unpleasant. The blue spot is the launch area for NE sea breezes as they funnel down from the coast.

I remember sailing it years and years ago (on the same board I still have today ) and it was pretty good but as the saying goes ... "the older you get, the better you were". Have spent my fair share of N'Easters and Westerlies there as well.

Perhaps I'll try Ocean Beach, Umina tomorrow instead. It's a magic place for N'Easters but I remember sailing there in a Southerly or Sou' Easter and it being pretty good. Just don't know if anyone sails there anymore either and what size swell will be running. At least it's dead onshore if my old gear breaks!

Will be my first time back in the water for almost a year ... well since a very disappointing day in July 2015 in Kanaha, Maui when it barely blew 12 knots. Prior to that day it had definitely been a year off the water.
