Guys and girls, we're less than two weeks away until the start of the NSWWA Severne Wave Series 2012-13!!

Event One takes place at Port Kembla; a great location for westerly winds which theoretically is the predominant wind at this time of year. Having said that, and if you look at the graphs for this week we could be holding the event at Gerroa (if North East wind) or Windang (Southerly wind). Please aim to arrive at King George V Park, Port Kembla (by the surf club - you will see flags) for 9:30 although sign on is until 11am.

Keep an eye out on here and www.nswwavesailing.org for the latest news - we can change the location and time of rego on the day to get the best wind/waves possible.

We had mentioned a potential for a BBQ egg 'n bacon breakfast but we have decided logistics will be too hard. So, we will be doing an evening event - keep an eye out on the whiteboard for location.

Dirty Dog, a long term supporter of our Association are the headline sponsors for this event with our newest sponsor Hot Sails Maui. Severne have kindly come on board as Series Sponsor for 2012-13 which is great news.

As an FYI, Hot Sails Maui are sponsoring the Juniors for the whole season - so if we get enough contestable events (and enough juniors entering) gear will be up for grabs to the winners and most improved*. Bring your kids/mates!

Fingers crossed for wind and the end of this flat spell!

See you all at Port Kembla.

*TBC

Ok ok, simmer down - the excitment from you all for Event 1 is palpable! Well it is from the Committee who know's that this year is shapping up extremely well!

Conditions are a little all over the place at the moment but the general trend is for a W/WSW wind and swell increasing through the day.

Due to the wind direction sign on is still 9:30-11:00 at Port Kembla.

Bring your SUPs (if you have one) as there will be an alternative competiton for no wind events which is being supported by one of our main sponsors.

See you on Saturday with cash to buy a NSWWA hoodie

I had to look this one up!
What does palpable mean?
• PALPABLE (adjective)
The adjective PALPABLE has 2 senses:
1. capable of being perceived by the senses or the mind; especially capable of being handled or touched or felt
2. can be felt by palpation
Familiarity information: PALPABLE used as an adjective is rare.

See you Saturday.

Beat me too it Tim. For those who are travelling down on Saturday like me, make sure you vote the day before or you will receive a nasty little letter in the mail. Now sailing, ive forgotten what that is. It's been a while.

I didn't think there was absentee voting in council elections. Woollongong and Shellharbour aren't voting this year (they have five year terms) so there wouldn't be anywhere to absentee vote anyway. Where can you vote earlier?

I'm planning heading down to Illawarra on Sat and would LOVE to vote earlier.

You can prepoll vote now if you are unable or don't want to on Saturday. There should be one booth open in your council area where you can vote. There is one close to where I live and its been open for the last couple of weeks.

If you're near the CBD, it took 3mins to vote. Too easy!

lolo22,

Port Kembla is approximately 10kms south of Wollongong which in turn is 90kms south of Sydney.

Sorry for not being more specific - I just assume people know where places are. To assume only makes an ass out of u and me!

www.google.com.au:443/maps?q=port+kembla&hl=en&ll=-34.492869,150.905757&spn=0.027342,0.030813&hnear=Port+Kembla+New+South+Wales&t=h&z=15

See you tomorrow.

How do local councils get away with allowing competitions to take place in such dangerous conditions?

Seriously though it was better than what you see above. Some photos will turn up that will confirm this.
I am going to show the shots here to my mum so she never worries about me going windsurfing ever again.

I know, without my manic, I don't think I would have had the control to waterstart in those gale force conditions.

Thanks Duncan and Tim , I was kinda lucky though -the small number of quality waves meant that it came down to luck of whether or not you were out the back when a set came through .
