First round of the series was run today. Thanks to everyone who took part, and a few others who just free sailed. It was great to see a full carpark.
Winds were initially up around 15 knots but by the planned start time (3:30pm) the wind had dropped right off. The start was delayed for 45 minutes which gave the wind time to fill in. Never as strong as forecast but plenty for everyone to be planing.
Results of the day are below. Congratulations to Ric Black who had consistent speed over the hour with his Raceboard and 15m kite. Unluckily Byron and Lyndon had GPS issues so we couldn't retrieve their data. Bruce and Tibor also sailed consistently, while peak speed of the day went to Hugh, who had to cut his hour short so he could pack up and go to work on night shift. Sue, John and I suffered because we weren't on the water the whole hour due to having to change to bigger gear mid way through.
Thanks again to everyone who came, and hope to see lots more next time. Remember that if you couldn't make it today you're not out of the running, because with a 4 race series we have one drop/discard.
Cheers
James
