You will be stoked to see the new GPS free sail at only $50 to join Marmong for affiliation fees and that includes sailing fees for 4 planed days of GPS free sailing when the wind permits and yes we can do it anywhere in lake Macquarie.
Only $10 for extra slalom racing if we race slalom at Marmong on other days .
Any proceeds go to Marmong Point Sailing Club to ensure we have a windsurfing Club now and into the future.
WE need as many People as possible to pay and get involved in a fun cheap new system. Otherwise it won't be here next year. Basically we need people to start paying when they can.
Basically the GPS free race will work like this;
-we will choose a day & location a few days out when a forecast looks good and post on see breeze. I will also email contacts I have.(We do know days we will not be sailing as racing away)
-We can all sail together and we will nominate a 1 hour time frame for people to go for it. All disciplines are in for that 1 hour.
-James has agreed to do the results we will need to give him our files and the person with the best overall result wins.
How much fun will it be every one sailing together.
I expect especially at the sand island we will see many PBS smashed with every one pushing each other and that will be a great thing.
I have not arrange the prize for the overall winner yet, only elected yesterday but will do my best for a good prize .(however fun is the name of the game lots of people sailing together)

FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN FORMULA
We race every Saturday (wind dependant)
Cost is $250 total Includes Marmong membership and all normal race days.
(please note if you pay the $250 you do not have to pay for the GPS series or slalom race days)
If not racing much $90 membership fee plus $10 every race day.

Excellent concept guys. Well done and good luck with it all.
I'll be up when it warms and nothings on in Sydney for sure.
We may even have a bit of a numbers rivalry goin' on between you guys and Storm-Riders this year. Bring it on!

James!....you and Byron are such good guys doing all this from the goodness of your hearts for us all just to have fun. It is appreciated! I can not see this free gps not succeeding. So much fun and brings more sailors together which is important. So, come on all you free spirits sailing all over the place! Come and join in!....it's definately more fun this way!

Def a shame the guys had GPS issues.
I was a bit overpowered for the first half and a few guys would have been going fast than me, but then it died off and the bigger sail helps Unfortunately most of the action was over on the other side of the lake behind the sand island but here are a few shots the good wife took.

And big thanks to Byron and James for making it happen, hopefully we get a bigger turnout for the next one

It was great fun sailing with other people at the same time competing so come on all you slalom sailors come and join in its cheap and we now also have included Slalom racing at Marmong for free if you join this series.
Had a blast dragging Ric on the flat water at the sand islands nothing in it we were both trying to go as fast as possible I had a peak of just under 31 knots. Its great to race against windsurfers and kites.
Congratulations to all but we want more people to join and as James has said it is a 4 race series with one drop looks like mine was yesterday GPS issues.

You can loose your edge and makes it harder stay in total control, but still manageable, just not fast.

Kites are very good for depower these days.
Not sure if you've ever looked up close, but as you sheet out the rear lines go slack, this changes the angle of attack and depowers the kite as we push the bar away from the body, not unlike pushing the back of the boom away on a windsurfer really.
