To finish up The Windsurfing Shed Four Seasons Regatta, Marmong Point Sailing Club are holding their annual Winter Regatta on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July.

To take advantage of the variable winds at this time of the year, the location will be decided on Thursday - either from the Wangi Caravan Park (SE to NE forecast) or from the club at Marmong (all other wind directions). So check back here on seabreeze on Thursday night.

To make sure everyone feels the cold we'll make the most of two days of racing, if there is enough wind racing will start at 12:00am, ie registration 10:00-11:15am, briefing 11:15am. There will be a dinner Saturday night (location TBC)!

DAY ONE
REGISTRATION 10:00 - 11:15 HRS
BRIEFING 11:15 HRS
RACING 12:00 HRS

DAY TWO
BRIEFING 9:30HRS
RACING 10:15 HRS

Marmong Point is an easy drive under 2 hours from Sydney, and a BBQ will be held at the end of racing for all competitors and their families, as part of the $30 entry fee.

Results will count towards the overall 2011-2012 Four Seasons Series, which is still wide open for anyone to win one of the great prizes - refer to the event poster above.

All classes are welcome, so come along for some fun racing just to dust off the cobwebs, or give racing a try for the first time if you're a newcomer.

A few beds/floor are available for Saturday night, if you need a place to stay send me a message on Seabreeze.

See you Saturday & Sunday !

Nathan

Squishy,

whose bed are you offering?

Just for my ancient memory, is this a slalom if too windy for FW regatta?

Open Formula saw three different sailors take bullets, Murray owning one, notably Steve Walsh has taken two bullets. Bruce Healey is leading in the Youth division ; )

Hopefully I've got the right detail. Two Free Formula's sailors have taken two bullets each. Sunday will be a big day for these two sailors.

Mid winters don't get much better than this. It will always at best be cold &/or dodgy westerlies but this w/end was sunny & not as cold as you might have thought, the westerlies not too dodgy. A few blokes had only spring suits on, rugged individualists unafraid of pain or discomfort (I forgot my long john).

Saturday was windier than it looked & most rigged big leading to some maxed out moments & a bit of swimming, yes the water was cold. I think it was 4 races back to back & then it was agreed all were too stuffed to rig down & go again.

Sunday looked windier than it turned out to be so most rigged 10 or 11m wished they had gone bigger. 4 races, 2 canned. When the wind was in it was beautiful, comfortable sailing but it was a task trying to stay in the gust.

Steve Walsh was the standout performer, winning the regatta in Open Class; on Sunday I could not believe he had a 10m as he was going so well, beating the 11m guys mostly. In FE+ David seemed to be going well, I think I saw him 1st round the top mark once.

In FE+ Mick Saunders won the Series and Nathan Hornbag won the Open class. Winners scored excellent Maui Sails booms from Windsurfing Shed.

Squishy,
A nice pep talk is the least you young blokes are entitled to when catching up to an old fart. Don't think I didn't give similar words of encouragement to other worthy candidates, there were plenty of opportunities after all.

also need to thank a quiet engineer .... Always working quietly behind the scenes leading up to & on the weekend!
Getting bits & pieces together, making sure forms are ready, calculating scores while everyone else enjoys the BBQ. A big thank you to Geoff Smith.

Great work Mate!

Yeah there's a reason why marmong has so many great sailors. Regular well run races.
The place is good too, I like it. Its safe with flat water and plenty of variation in the breeze. No traffic.

Good prizes! Two large carbon booms!! does that happen every week?
