Good luck to Jessica Crisp who has entered the PWA Maui event starting today. No info yet on the draw but I understand she's gone over early to train. Jess got back into competition with nsw Wavesailing assoc about two years and basically showed everyone that's she still has all the skills!!

Just read on Boardseekermag.com that Jessica suffered a suspected broken neck!

What happened, is she OK?

That Boardseekermag article states:

. . . "The women’s single elimination started and finished today, with some major upsets along the way. An unfortunate early casualty was Ingrid Larouche the three-time AWT champion, who was attempting to windsurf with an injured ankle. Whilst Ingrid still sailed some great waves really hitting the lip she did not progress and was clearly troubled by the injury, some questioned why Ingrid did not advance, but it was not to be her day. Sarah Hauser, Amanda Beenen, Tatiana Howard and Jessica Crisp all sailed some exceptional heats too, taking the biggest set waves possible and really going for broke. This didn’t always go to plan however with a few visits to the rocks, some broken gear and even a suspected broken neck from [for] Jessica Crisp."

!! It doesn't provide any follow-up. Hope she's ok. Windsurfing has been her life for probably 30 years. I'm sure Jess will be windsurfing for another 30 assuming this is hopefully only a bit of a muscle sprain. Get well soon.

When anyone mentions the word Legend, Jess is one that certainly comes to my mind and remains there.
If it's not consistently whooping the best guys on Wallies it's doing the same in the waves, seriously!!
There is no doubt she once was the best female in the world as a wavesailor.
When it comes to Olympic racing she's done heaps and is always up there with the very best in the world.
Sadly in a less than perfect moment she went the wrong way at a buoy which ended up costing her the Gold medal.

Both on and off the water she is constantly supportive of both male and female sailors, with tips a plenty.
Such a genuinely nice person.
Yep without doubt a Legend.
