I've recently moved over the east side of the lake and have heard that Belmont by the 16ft sailing club works in a nor-easter.

Took a drive over there yesterday, but couldn't see where to park / launch.



Is it one of the spots in the picture above, or is it somewhere else?

Slips is ok but as Rus said you do have to dog out

Beware launching in the little pocket on the eastern side of the slipway - if you get too downwind the rock outcrop will claim (large) fins and there is often rubbish from the local louts -scored myself a deep 4cm long cut there a month or so ago that had me off the water for 3 weeks

A note on Swansea - the NE can often take a little while to fill in at the launch site - so if going out earlier in the day volume is your friend - when I first got back into windsurfing I had some walks of shame as I was on an old school 85l board and an extra 10kg on my frame - didnt make for a nice time -

The breeze tends to hang on a little better down their later in the day - dont know why

The slips is the go, as mentioned bit of a dog out but only for 50m then great runs across to Belmont south caravan park.

Alternatively give coon island a run at the back of Swansea caravan park for runs across to coal point and some of the flattest water possible.

Had a great sail at coon island on Sunday, I'd say it would have been up there as one of my top 10 sails of all time.

Yep thats the caravan park, i dont call it coon island even though we sailed around a bouy there called coon island when yatch racing.
rigg on the grass & walk out till its deep enough & go.
1 thing I found was that sea erchins gather around the edges of the sand islands so stop on the sand banks, dont walk up on to them, I had 10 15 spines once, not much fun cause you carnt keep sailing.
